In the May 7th episode of GH, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) visited Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) at her office. He spoke to her regarding his suspicions about Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst).
Justine Turner Was the Best Person to Ask for Advice on His Brother
Sonny seems convinced that Ric plans to blindside him with another big betrayal, but hopefully, there is more to the story.
It would be a shame to see the two brothers at odds all over again. The same old recycled storylines and the same beefs among the same characters can get old.
We were thrilled when Sonny and Ric buried the hatchet. It meant we got to see more of Maurice Benard and Rick Hearst sharing scenes, and they have a natural chemistry that demonstrates the kind of bond brothers have.
Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) warned Sonny that it looked like Ric was conspiring with Ava Jerome (Maura West). Since the conversation between Ric and Ava occurred off-camera, we have no idea what happened.
Apparently, Ric lied to Sonny concerning his whereabouts. Now, Sonny is a mess, trying to figure out whether Ric plans to make a move against him, as he has in the past.
So far, ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) has been the voice of reason for Sonny. She advised him to find out the truth from Ric by asking him, which makes perfect sense.
However, Sonny likely assumes that if he asks Ric upfront why he lied to him about where he was, that Ric will just lie to him again.
We really wish we knew what was going on here, but since we don’t, we can’t really jump to conclusions either way. Yet, we can understand Sonny’s hesitation to trust Ric. He’s been burned by Ric in the past.
As for asking Alexis for her opinion on Ric, he would have been much better off sticking with Justine’s wise advice.
We Don’t Want to See Another Round of Sonny Vs. Ric
If we had to guess, Ric may be planning to purchase some art from Ava’s gallery to give as a gift to his lady love, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst).
He’s been in love with Liz for decades, and odds are, if he’s involving Ava of all people, it has to be art-related. The other option is much too upsetting.
Some fans think Ric may team up with Ava for something related to Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) vendetta against Sonny, which we can’t really imagine.
Plus, GH has put genuine effort into redeeming Ric. It would be foolish for them to pull a 180 with the character. Besides, there are simply way too many villains on GH.
The soap needs fresh, realistic relationships, as too many characters are either pitted against each other, while others are plain evil, diabolical, or otherwise irritating.
It doesn’t make much sense to have Ric and Sonny despise each other again. It would be similar to Sonny and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) getting remarried.
It’s been done and overdone, and we even bought the t-shirt. Fingers crossed that Sonny and Ric can overcome whatever misunderstanding they may have and just be brothers.
At least we hope it’s a misunderstanding, because if the writers are planning another round of Sonny vs. Ric, it would be a big mistake. When Sonny and Ric are aligned and working together, it’s pure gold.
