‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer‘s (Laura Wright) fans have been clamoring for the former couple to get back together since the minute Sonny returned from Nixon Falls.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Threw His Marriage To Carly Away
Others claim their romantic relationship is a toxic one that shouldn’t be repeated. While Benard and Wright share easy chemistry, they have been married and divorced umpteen times.
Many viewers conveniently forget that Sonny slept with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) while he and Carly were married.
He used the lame excuse that he waited for her, and when she didn’t show up, he was so devastated that he just had to hop into bed with the woman who kept him from his family for months.
Sonny and Carly divorced, and then she started a relationship with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), and most fans couldn’t stand them together.
On paper, it should have worked. A man who wanted to put Carly first. A former Navy Seal who went to jail to protect her. But the pair never really clicked.
Fans were longing for the chemistry and fire of CarSon. However, it needs to be said that Carly has grown tremendously as a woman, as a Spencer, if you will. Without Sonny, she only seems to shine brighter.
Carly knows she’s not perfect. She takes ownership of her mistakes and is fully aware of her shortcomings. She’s come a long way over the years, and perhaps being with Sonny would be a huge step back.
The audience knows that Sonny’s perpetual rage isn’t his fault, as Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) gave the mob boss a lowered dose of his bipolar medication, and now Ava Jerome (Maura West) arranged for him to get total placebos.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Carly Needs Someone Who Appreciates Her
Sonny’s situation elicits compassion, which allows Sonny and Carly’s fans to continue to root for a possible reconciliation. However, he’s still the guy who slept with another woman and threw his marriage away faster than a snow cone melts in hell.
Not to mention, the two of them tend to enable each other’s worst traits. (CarSon fans don’t get mad!) Carly seems to have grown up more since she’s been away from Sonny and cultivated success on her terms.
She needs someone who both excites her but also doesn’t treat her like crap. One potential pairing could be Carly with the dashing and charming Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure), who oozes sex appeal and genuinely seems to appreciate Carly.
Jack and Carly have loads of chemistry and would likely make a fascinating pair. It’s much more interesting than her and Drew.
Some fans want to see Carly with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), but the idea of them as a romantic couple offends others and sends them into a frantic tailspin.
Like Drew, Jason has sacrificed time with his children and his freedom to keep her out of prison. He’s a much better man for Carly, and he understands her completely.
The bottom line is that Carly deserves to be happy and secure, and if history has proven anything, it’s that she likely won’t have that with Sonny. At least not for long.
