General Hospital fans can all see that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) have fallen for each other, and their chemistry is off the charts.
Key Highlights
- Carly and Valentin’s chemistry is off the charts
- Valentin needs to not be a fugitive so they can have a chance to last
- They need to get rid of Cullum and the threat the WSB poses
- If they want to make it as a long-term couple, they need to eliminate all obstacles
Carly and Valentin Share an Undeniable Spark
However, we are unsure of whether their sizzling relationship is built to last, or if it’s all spark and no substance. We definitely didn’t have them on our bingo card as the next best soap couple, but here we are.
Carly and Valentin’s chemistry and genuine connection came as a very pleasant surprise to us. Personally, I felt really bad for Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), despite many fans not sharing my empathy for the poor guy.
For all Jack’s faults, he was 100 percent head over heels in love with Carly. I hated the smug and shockingly insensitive way Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) broke the news to Brennan that there was another man in the picture.
McKenna was also superb in his scenes where he walked in on Carly and Valentin in bed together. His utter shock and heartbreak were palpable, and I couldn’t help but feel his pain.
That said, Carly and Valentin are still undeniably hot together. The pair also needs to figure out whether they have what it takes to make it as a long-term couple.
So, Valentin needs to somehow not be a fugitive anymore so that Carly and Val can take their relationship public, if that’s what they choose to do.
Valentin and Carly Have So Much in Common
Valentin is also good for Carly, as he shares her values regarding family, and they both fiercely protect their kids at all costs. They have so much in common.
Of course, he also cooks her delicious French food in her kitchen, and their banter is adorable. We’re just waiting for the skilled musician to break out the piano and play Billy Joel for her.
We have to wonder if Carly and Val have a future together. Sometimes explosive chemistry like theirs eventually fizzles out.
Sorry, Carson fans, but that’s pretty much what happened with Carly and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). After taking that fifth trip down the aisle, they weren’t so appealing together anymore.
If Valentin and Carly are going to make it official, they also need to get rid of the threat that Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) poses. That way, maybe Valentin won’t be on the WSB’s radar anymore.
Diehard Vanna Fans Aren’t on Board with Carly and Valentin as a Couple
Valentin would need to come back to Port Charles full- time and stop traipsing around the world. He should also be a more stable parent to Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke).
They also won’t likely give up until they get Joss out of danger and away from the WSB. As long as Cullum is alive, he poses the biggest threat, considering he’s willing to kill kids to get away with his crimes.
Then, there are diehard Vanna fans who want to see Valentin with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). Those two were really great together and also shared combustible chemistry, but they also have a messy history. Anna and Valentin also lack the fresh energy that Carly and Valentin have.
Carly and Valentin appear to be moving toward a serious relationship. We can even imagine Valentin proposing to her at some point. We’re currently on the fence about whether their courtship will end in heartbreak or a happily ever after.
What do you think? Do you think Carly and Valentin have what it takes to really make it as a couple? Or is their lightning in a bottle electricity bound to fizzle out?
