Alex Smith, quarterback for the Washington Football won The Comeback Player of the Year Award this year and it’s been nothing short of amazing. In 2018, Smith broke his leg during a game against the Houston Texans, and it looked like his career was over.
However, Smith did the unthinkable and over two years worked his way back through 17 surgeries, life-threatening infection, and nearly losing his leg by amputation. There was no way he was supposed to do half the things he did.
Not only did Smith return to the field, but he also helped lead his team to a division championship and played in the playoffs!
At the 2021 NFL Honors, Smith gave an emotional acceptance speech that you can hear below.

It’s truly an inspiring story and one that will not be forgotten anytime soon. We look forward to the future and congratulate Smith on his well-deserved award. His speech was well-received and I think we all were rooting for him!
