‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) has had two significant relationships in her life for years: her ride-or-die BFF, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and her ex-husband, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Coerced Carly Into Helping Him With An Alibi
Sonny recently shot and killed Agent John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) and coerced Carly into providing him with a less-than-believable alibi.
Sonny had the bright idea to pretend he and Carly hit the sheets in Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) bed during the murder.
When Sonny and Carly went downstairs, he pretended to adjust his clothes so everyone would think they had slept together.
Carly felt she had no choice but to go along with it. If she’s caught lying, she could get into serious trouble. To make matters worse, Killer Miller (aka Diane Miller, played by (Carolyn Hennesy) informed the pair that if they wanted to make this alibi look real, they had to act like they were back together in public.
The two of them recently had a dinner date at the Metro Court, and Carly spent most of the time rolling her eyes. And we feel her.
While many fans want a CarSon reboot, we think it’s an all-around foolish idea. Their relationship has always been toxic, primarily due to Sonny’s selfishness and Carly making excuses for him.
Fingers crossed that GH pairs her with the charming and chivalrous Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure). Jack is the perfect man for Carly.
Not only do they have undeniable chemistry, but his infatuation with Carly led him to remove FBI evidence against her so she wouldn’t have to face prison time.
We’re still waiting for that lovely little secret to come out so Carly knows Brennan protected her. In addition, Brennan and Carly don’t have a tumultuous romantic past like Sonny and Carly.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Case For Jack Brennan
With Brennan, they start from a place where he knows she’s a fiery, clever, and independent woman. Carly gets to relax and be herself, specifically, the strong woman she’s become.
Brennan is the best potential love interest for Carly we’ve seen in a long time. His desire to help her in perilous situations and the character’s emotional honesty when he’s with Carly would balance them as a couple. She needs someone exciting but also someone who she can count on. Jack fits the bill.
Carly also needs a man who would put her first. Brennan would do that. Sonny tends to put his mafia persona above everything else. One of his few redeeming qualities is his love for his children, which is part of the reason why Agent Cates had to die.
We’re not saying Brennan would never kill anyone, but he wouldn’t turn it into an ingrained character trait. Without Sonny, Carly shines. And Carly shouldn’t be thrust into the same tired storyline, except now we fear that’s where it’s headed with the characters pretending to fall back in love.
We know a million CarSon fans have been waiting for their reunion. But we’ve been there, done that, and purchased the T-shirt. Carly needs a man she can move forward with, not backward, and we think we have the right man in mind.
