‘General Hospital’ spoilers suggest that Willow Cain (Katelynn MacMullen) may be a far more entertaining and compelling character as a psycho than she’s ever been.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Willow Is Playing Drew Like a Fiddle
Willow has officially embraced the dark side. She’s found her inner Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier); she’s full-blown coo coo for Cocoa Puffs. No matter how you say it, she’s a lot more interesting these days.
We found out last week that it really was Willow who shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Hate Willow or love to hate her, Katelyn MacMullen deserves recognition for her Emmy-worthy performance as Willow.
Even back when she first lost custody of her children, it caught our attention as MacMullen played Willow like she had straight up lost her mind. It was magnificent.
Speaking of playing, Willow is playing Drew like a fiddle at a country music festival. We got a glimpse of that when Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) humorously threw her drink at Drew, and Willow couldn’t help but let out a slight giggle. It was awesome.
In the January 12th episode, we watched Willow roll her eyes at Drew behind his back before she turned around and pretended to be the loving, devoted wife.
When she spoke to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), she made it just clear enough, without giving herself away, that she really can’t stand Drew.
Let’s face it. Drew is the worst man in Port Charles and the most despicable character on the show. He’s a sleaze bucket. It’s highly amusing watching a player get played.
Willow is no saint herself. But her sense of self-preservation is understandable. She’s a lot more fun to watch now that she’s not a boring, mindless one-woman cult.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Willow Has Become Much More Complex
Personally, I welcome a complex character like Willow. We need to love to hate, but we also need to be able to relate.
Willow is never going to win the mother-of-the-year award, but the drive, the desire to do anything it takes to be with her kids, is as innate and raw as any mother.
Hear me out. She should never have moved Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko) in with Drew. In fact, there’s a lot of things Willow should have never done.
Look, the list of things Willow should never have done is so ridiculously long, and we don’t have all day. Yet, somehow, the belief in Willow, the idea that she loves her children, is what keeps her going. It’s her true north. Plus, we get her wanting to shoot Drew.
Another observation: the image of Willow pulling the trigger on Drew in the darkness is very bada**! She looks more like a character from “Pulp Fiction” than the formerly sweet and saccharine Willow Tait.
If you’ve seen that image of her perfect villainous scowl and look of pure disgust, you know it’s the look of someone who has a thirst for revenge and means business. Bravo Katelyn!
Willow has truly lost her mind, and we’re here for it. If she had actually been successful in actually killing Drew, she would absolutely be my hero.
We may not agree with Willow or her lengthy list of poor choices for her kids, but we’re always wondering what she’ll do next. And that, my friends, is good for the soap.
