‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers share that Peter Porte, who plays Dimitri von Leuschner on the soap, has happily returned to his old stomping grounds. He recently dished to TV Line about his comeback.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Dimitri Returned as Leo Promised Himself to Javi
As Dimitri arrived back in Salem at the exact wrong moment, it was a shock to the system for Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), who had just married the love of his life, Javi Hernandez(Al Calderon).
Thanks to Gwen von Leuschner(Emily O’Brien), Leo and Javi’s wedding night was ruined. Javi told Leo that he needed to sort out his “lingering” feelings for Dimitri before they could move forward.

Scheming, scorned, and visibly satisfied, Gwen couldn’t hide the delighted, duplicitous smile on her face as Javi walked away from his heartbroken groom.
Dimitri had explained to Leothat being away from him wasn’t his choice. It turns out that Gwen was behind the forged ‘Dear John’ letter that Dimitri supposedly wrote to Leo.
Side note: What’s up with DOOL and all the forged letters? Anyway, in the contents of the letter, it read that Dimitri was leaving Leo for another man.

Then, Gwen and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) held Dimitri captive, and Leo believed that Dimitri had broken up with him.
Leo was a broken man until he fell in love with Javi. Sadly, the situation has become more complicated since Dimitri pledged his love to Leoafter Leo’s wedding to Javi.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Will Gwen Go Backward Financially?
We know what we want: for Leo and Javi’s love to prevail. Right now, it’s up in the air because DOOL spoilers suggest that the fallout of Dimitri’s return directly impacts Leo and Javi’s future.
Nevertheless, Peter Porte has returned. While we want Leo with Javi, Dimitri’s showdown with Gwen was spectacular. It’s going to be fun to see whether Dimitri gets the best of Gwen or vice versa.
The two of them obviously no longer want to be married, but their main concern is which one of them will win the inheritance.

We can’t imagine Gwen going backward financially. Plus, there’s the tiny matter of them living together in the DiMera mansion.
Not to mention, Gwen helping EJ fund the hospital for his shady project. Regardless, we’re excited to see how Porte’s return spices up the canvas.
Porte told TV Insider,
“I love working on this show. I get to work with my friends. It’s such a legacy. I mean, we just celebrated our 60th anniversary, which is crazy in this town, so I was disappointed to leave.”
He continued,
“I was always hoping they bring me back. I thought the fact that they put me in a supermax prison and not killed me was a good sign.”
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Dimitri’s Next Chapter Will Involve Transformation
“All that’s kept him alive this time was his love for this man, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get him back.”
Porte praised his co-stars, Emily O’Brien and Greg Rikaart, for the natural rhythm the three of them share. They had a lot of fun performing these emotionally charged scenes. Their on-screen chemistry is evident.

He also likes his new, soapy 80s-long hair. The idea of Dimitri coming back and being with Leo was what kept him going.
The actor also hinted that Dimitri’s next chapter will
“challenge both the character and the audience’s expectations.”
He also endures some character growth, but not everyone around him appreciates his transformation.
“No one can imagine the torture that Dimitri has gone through.”

Yet, Leo doesn’t reciprocate that love anymore because his heart clearly belongs to Javi now. Yes, Dimitri ultimately found his way back to Leo, but now it may be too late.
Hopefully, Dimitri doesn’t destroy the bond that Leo and Javi share. Leo has become a much better person, and his relationship with Javi is the true love story at the heart of it all.
