Poor Leo Stark. He didn’t really do anything wrong to lose Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon). On the night of Leo and Javi’s wedding, Leo’s ex, Dimitri Von Leuchner (Peter Porte), showed up, thanks to Gwen Von Leuschner (Emily O’Brien). From that moment on, Javi made sure that he was emotionally unavailable.

- Gus is moving to Salem to be with Javi and needs a job, which Leo overheard
- Leo may somehow sabotage Gus’s job opportunity at the Salem fire department
Javi Let His Own Insecurities Get the Best of Him and Deserted Leo
Javi pretty much took one look at suave, handsome Dimitri and was like, meh, I’m out. It was never Leo who walked away from the marriage.
Javi let his own insecurities get the best of him. He refused to have the certificate filed at the courthouse, so they were never legally married anyway.
Javi left Salem to help his dad, who needed open heart surgery, and Leo traveled to Alemania to prove Dimitri’s innocence when he was implicated in the DiMera kidnappings. Javi happened to call Leo while he was staying with Dimitri in a hotel room.

When Javi heard Dimitri on the other end of the phone, he immediately bolted and told Leo they were definitely over. Leo was heartbroken when Javi refused to let Leo explain.
However, Leo never wavered from his love and devotion to Javi and ultimately rejected Dimitri’s advances. Yet somehow, during the time Javi went to Texas to visit his ailing father, he managed to snag a new boyfriend, Gus (Michael Ocampo).

Leo hasn’t given up on Javi, but he’ll soon discover that Gus plans to move to Salem to be with Javi. Both Javi and Gus met while working as firefighters in Texas.
The question is, will Leo try to remove Gus from Javi’s life so that he can have Javi all to himself? Leo is still wearing the wedding ring that Javi slipped on his finger.
Leo May Try to Remove Gus from Javi’s Life
Leo is so consumed with jealousy over Gus that he may revert to his old ways somewhat and try to sabotage Gus’s application to work at the Salem fire department, hoping that will be enough to send Gus back to Texas.
Of course, Gus needs to find a job somewhere in Salem if he plans to stick around. Interestingly, JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) has recently switched professions from cop to firefighter and plans to submit a job application at the fire department as well.

No matter what, we likely won’t see Leo give up on Javi anytime soon. Even when Leo tried to be Javi’s friend, Javi insisted to Leo that he wanted a clean break. Despite Leo’s hard work in therapy with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), he could still try to ruin Gus’s plans.
Leo may find a way to make sure that JJ gets the job and Gus doesn’t. While Leo is convinced that Javi is the love of his life, Javi quickly gave up on him.
Sadly, we think Javi is the one who messed up here. He didn’t stand by his man when it mattered the most. Javi is the one who had no faith in his partner. Instead of Javi enjoying a romantic wedding night with Leo, he bolted mere minutes after the ceremony.

If Javi had stayed with Leo, Leo would never have gone to Almenia with Dimitri in the first place. In the end, Leo may be better off moving on, since Javi has already made it clear he won’t open his heart to Leo again.
Are you still rooting for Leo and Javi, or would Leo be better off with someone new?
