We hoped for Cassie Carli’s safe return, Unfortunately, that won’t be happening. Today Florida Authorities, while executing a search warrant they had for a property in Alabama found Cassie Carli’s body in a barn in a shallow grave. Cassie Carli’s ex, Marcus Spanevelo, is currently in custody in Tennessee on charges of tampering with evidence and giving false information to authorities.
It took TBI, ABI, FBI and Florida Authorities all working together in order to solve this case and locate Cassie’s body. The authorities were working on a tip they received and actually located Cassie’s body yesterday, April 2nd, 2022 in the evening.
Cassie Carli’s Remains Found In A Shallow Grave In Barn
When asked if the suspect, had any connection the property authorities said that he did indeed have a connection to the property but they couldn’t elaborate on how because it was an ongoing investigation.
They did say that the suspect lied “a couple of times” to authorities, and went as far as to say that he had gotten rid of her phone. Another source said that cell phone pings is what initially led authorities to her body, but that is unverifiable information at the moment.
In the press conference, Florida authorities said that he was apprehended by the TBI on a traffic stop, and they went as far as to say that he had never once cooperated with authorities on the investigation, to which the officer said “that’s kind of tell-tale”, and indeed it is.
As for little Sailor, Cassie Carli’s little girl, they said that Tennessee authorities had checked on her and that so far she is doing okay, she is with family right now. We hope for her sake that she can come to the place that she calls home soon.
There was talk of Spanevelo possibly trying to waive extradition back to Florida, since Florida is a capital punishment state, the officer seemed to think that he might try and fight going back to Florida for a trial and said that he was sure that there would “be an extradition process”. The sheriff said that the collective team went over 1500 miles in search of her.
The Sheriff said that he feels certain that they have a great case and that “the suspect is either going to spend the rest of his life in prison or get the needle. Hopefully the needle.” We hope for Cassie’s sake, and for the sake of their little girl, that justice is served quickly. We at DSD will keep an eye on this case. Stay tuned!!!
