Before Bryan Kohberger brutally murdered four University of Idaho students, the now-convicted killer was already showing flashes of his dark side — blowing up at a hotel clerk and chatting casually about knives, according to newly released police documents.

The incident went down on June 30, 2022, at a hotel in Pullman, Washington. Kohberger, who had booked through Expedia, stormed up to the front desk claiming he’d been overcharged. Unfortunately for the clerk on duty, it was her training day — and she had to deal with an irate customer who cops later described as “really upset.”

But here’s where things got weird: once the error was corrected, Kohberger reportedly flipped the switch, suddenly turning on the charm. He even flirted with the young employee, leaving her unsettled.

The next day, things took an even darker turn. The clerk told investigators she ran into Kohberger again in the hallway, and this time he decided to spark up small talk about “knife sheaths, self-defense weapons, and knife collections.” Totally normal conversation with a stranger, right?

Months later, in November 2022, Kohberger’s obsession with blades would reveal itself in the most horrifying way possible. The 29-year-old slaughtered four students — Ethan Chapin, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen, 21 — inside their off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho.

Kohberger eventually pled guilty to the savage murders, sealing his fate with a life sentence without parole and dodging the death penalty.

Authorities only learned of his unsettling hotel stay after someone tipped off the FBI following his December 2022 arrest. In hindsight, the chilling signs were already there — Kohberger wasn’t just a guy with a temper. He was a killer in waiting.

    B. Novak is and has always been a soap opera lover. He was first introduced to the world of soaps when his mom used to watch them when he was a kid in French. Yes, in French! That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
