In a new documentary about the now 15 year old Madeline McCann case, a suspect has been identified – a man who worked as a maintenance worker at the resort the McCann’s were staying at the week of 2007 when little Madeline disappeared. His name was Christian Breuckner.

Breuckner would have been no more than 5 minutes away from where Madeline was staying the night she went missing. At the time of Madeline’s disappearance, police were looking into sexual assaults involving British girls in the area.

Breuckner was not named a suspect until 2017, and would later become the only suspect after they found the toy bucket of a child in his backyard. Breuckner however maintains his innocence and has written to journalists before saying that he did not abduct Madeline McCann.

However currently he is serving time in a German prison due to a rape he commited in 2005. Portuguese police are continuing to investigate the case, even though to date there has been no real evidence to indicate whether Madeline is alive or dead or what exactly happened to her.

Currently, there is no physical evidence that has been released to the public at least, that actually links Breuckner to the crime. Before 2017 he was not even listed as a suspect by Portuguese authorities – however, what is suspicous is a few days after Madeline disappeared he flew back to Germany which probably would have helped him evade police for awhile, being in a different country, if he were responsible.

They’re not going to look into German citizens who are living in Germany for a crime committed in Portugal, after all. Physical evidence or not, Breucker has not actually come forward with an alibi either and that also casts suspicion.

However, there is some circumstancial evidence where a friend of Breuckner has come forward saying that Breucker told him that he is the one that took Madeline.

Whether this is the case or not, it’s caused enough of a stir to make German Police try and make a case against Breuckner for the murder of Madeline McCann, even though her little body has never been located, and at this point, may never be. We’ll be keeping an eye on this case for further developments – stay tuned!!!
