There are new reports that say Sex and the City actor Willie Garson has died at the age of 57. The actor was best-known for playing flamboyant talent agent Stanford Blatch, the close friend and confidante of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. Here’s what you need to know.
Willie’s son Nathen Garson revealed the news on Instagram. He wrote, “I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you.”
‘Sex And The City’ Actor Dead At 57
A HBO/HBO Max spokesperson also confirmed Garson’s passing, and the network honored his contributions to one of its most iconic shows in a statement.
“Willie Garson was in life, as on screen, a devoted friend and a bright light for everyone in his universe,” the statement read. “He created one of the most beloved characters from the HBO pantheon and was a member of our family for nearly twenty-five years. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Willie eprised the role in the two Sex And The City films and had been working recently on the HBO Max spin-off series And Just Like That. As well as Sex And The City, which originally ran from 1998-2004, Willie was known for his role as Mozzie in police procedural White Collar. His first break in Hollywood was in guest roles on TV shows such as “Cheers” and “Family Ties.”
