Manuel Masalva, the actor best known for his portrayal of Ramón Arellano Félix in “Narcos: Mexico,” is currently in a medically induced coma due to a serious infection, according to a distressing update from his friend and fellow actor, Mario Morán.

Morán shared the concerning news in a Thursday TikTok video, revealing in Spanish that Masalva had contracted a “very aggressive virus” while on vacation. The nature of the virus and the location of his travels have not been officially disclosed.

The infection reportedly took a severe toll on the 43-year-old actor, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent placement in a medically induced coma. Morán described Masalva’s condition as “delicate,” underscoring the gravity of the situation.

In his heartfelt video message, Morán also made a plea for support, sharing a link to a GoFundMe campaign established to help cover Masalva’s mounting medical expenses. He emphasized the significant financial burden, especially considering Masalva is reportedly receiving treatment far from his home. “The medical costs are enormous and in a country where everything is more difficult, any help, no matter how small, can make the difference in this very difficult moment,” Morán stated, urging fans and colleagues to contribute if possible.

Masalva gained international recognition for his compelling portrayal of the ruthless Ramón Arellano Félix, a key figure in the notorious Tijuana Cartel, in the popular Netflix series “Narcos: Mexico.” Beyond his role in the acclaimed crime drama, the Mexican actor has a diverse acting portfolio, including appearances in “La Guzmán,” “Mi corazón es Tuyo,” and the LGBTQ+-themed show “Tengo que morir todas las noches.”

As of the latest updates, Masalva remains in a critical state. His friend Mario Morán shared a follow-up message on TikTok, indicating that while the specific bacteria causing the infection has been identified and Masalva is receiving appropriate antibiotic treatment, his condition remains precarious. The focus is now on waiting and hoping for signs of improvement in the coming days and weeks. Morán continued to ask for prayers and support for his “brother,” expressing immense gratitude for the outpouring of concern.

The news of Masalva’s health crisis has prompted an outpouring of support from fans and the entertainment industry. His compelling performances have left a lasting impression, and many are now rallying behind him, hoping for a swift and full recovery.
