She certainly is a royal trouble maker, isn’t she? There’s a new report that says Meghan Markle’s claims of racism and not getting the mental health that she needed while she was still a full-time royal might be the tipping point for the British monarchy.
Apparently, former Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott, the first black member of Parliament, believes that the Duchess of Sussex’s shocking allegations may have fundamentally altered the British monarchy “as we know it.” Here’s what she has to say.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Abbott says that as a result of Markle’s contentions, the monarchy “as we know it will last as long as the queen is alive.”
Meghan Markle Might Take Down The British Monarchy, So Says Parliamentarian
Upon Her Majesty’s death, Abbott said, “I think there will be a big public debate … and I think what the royal family and their advisers did with Meghan will be part of the argument for change.”
What’s more, Abbott said a debate could even reach the floor of Parliament, with a “clamor to look at the current arrangement and maybe move to a more Scandinavian monarchy, where you don’t have all the pomp and ceremony.”
If that weren’t enough, another British politician said both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have become ‘persona non grata’ in the UK.
Brexit leader Nigel Farage even said, “For a couple that do public emotion as a career, this third person and one sentence statement shows their contempt for this great man and the monarchy. The British public will not welcome Harry and Meghan back, even for a funeral.”
Farage also said that it’s a good thing Meghan didn’t show up to Prince Philp’s funeral because she would have been nothing but a distraction. Meghan was forced to stay behind in California because of her pregnancy and of course, the ongoing pandemic that has been the coronavirus.
Farage said during the talk show, “Thank goodness Meghan Markle didn’t come. Thank goodness that the pregnancy gave her an excuse not to come. I don’t think, even though we don’t have crowds lining the streets, that she would be very well received at all.”
