In a move that would make Honest Abe Lincoln spin in his grave like a top, the audience at the Turning Point Convention gave Kyle Rittenhouse a standing ovation at their convention in Phoenix. Why? We were mystified at first as well, but apparently among young conservatives Rittenhouse is now being hailed as a patriot who stood against lawlessness.
He was acquitted of the murder of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and the wounding of Gaige Grosskruetz. Rittenhouse maintains that any actions that he took were the result of self-defense and that he felt threatened.

He says that he was out to protect property, not murder people, but the thing about Kyle Rittenhouse’s alleged “bravery” is that, just like some activism these days, it was purely performative. The fact of the matter is, he did not have to show up to this protest in another state (Rittenhouse actually lives in Antioch, Illinois) and have his Mom drive him all the way to Kenosha, WI with a loaded weapon in order to ‘protect property’.
Certain groups are using him to argue for gun rights, but it really begs the question, since there was no real war, and he was not called by his country to do service, Kyle wasn’t even in any Junior ROTC or National Guard programs as far as we know, he was just a citizen, what is he really being lauded for?
People kill other people in self defense every day and yet we don’t have standing ovations for rape or domestic violence victims who finally stood up to their abusers. If anything we victim blame and cause them to feel guilty for being in the situation in the first place.
While Rittenhouse may not have asked to be threatened at an allegedly peaceful protest, this was a very emotionally charged situation, a situation that he anticipated was going to get violent,, hence why he brought the gun, and he didn’t have to show up for it at all.
Yet… he was lauded a hero by the people at this convention… the thing is, what Kyle Rittenhouse did, does not really qualify him as a hero. So, again, what were they really applauding for? Stay tuned!!!
