Katelyn MacMullen, who plays Willow Cain on General Hospital, recently spoke to Soap Opera Digest about Willow and Harrison Chase’s (Josh Swickard) controversial bond, as Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) secretly plots to break up his own cousin’s marriage.
Key Highlights
- MacMullen claims Willow thinks of Chase as a “great friend”
- Willow offered Chase a job working for her
- Willow isn’t above breaking her marriage vows
- Michael is trying to push Willow and Chase together
Brook Lynn Warned Willow to Stay Away from Chase
Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) is already convinced that Willow is after her husband and delivered a chilling warning to our Weeping Willow last week.
BLQ was coming to give Willow a gift to thank her for helping her and Chase adopt Phoebe. Willow used her power and influence as a Congresswoman to facilitate their fostering of the baby girl.
Brook Lynn told Willow that if she ever put her hands on Chase again, she would destroy her. Of course, Willow played the doe-eyed innocent, with a look on her face that suggested that Willow had no idea why Brook Lynn would say that to her.
However, if we know Willow, she’s putting out all the feelers and sending out signals to Chase that she’s game. Once a cheater, always a cheater, right?
MacMullen Said Willow Isn’t Really After Chase
Well, not so fast, Katelyn MacMullen has a much different take on the situation,
“To Willow, that felt like it was coming out of nowhere. She feels like she and Chase are just great friends, and so she didn’t understand where Brook Lynn was coming from and was a little taken aback by it. Especially because she’s been helping them adopt the baby. She’s showing that she’s invested in their family.”
That said, Brook Lynn is a Quartermaine, and that family will never forgive or forget the fact that she cheated on Michael with his uncle, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
It’s not as if Willow is above breaking her marriage vows either. This week, Michael and Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell) orchestrated a run-in between a shirtless Chase and Willow at the boathouse.
Michael is trying to push Willow and Chase together to destroy Willow’s reputation and ultimately, her political career, so that he can get full custody of their kids.
Willow Offered Chase a Job Working for Her
MacMullen added,
“I don’t know how shocked Willow would be to find out that Michael is setting her up. Maybe she’d be a little surprised, but I think she’s under the impression that Michael and the whole Quartermaine family are capable of anything! So she definitely wouldn’t put it past him.”
So, now, Willow has offered Chase a job as the chief of staff of her Congressional office. Willow basically took Brook Lynn’s warning as a signal to bring Chase even closer to her.
Why on earth would she do this after Brook Lynn made it clear to her to stay away from her husband? MacMullen insists that Willow is feeling guilty over Chase ruining his career to save her from going to prison for shooting her husband.
Willow really doesn’t get it. She’s playing with fire here. Offering Chase a job working for her would only infuriate Brook Lynn, not to mention give Michael more than ample opportunity to facilitate another “chance” meeting that could lead to something much more.
While Michael is wrong to try to break up his cousin’s marriage, he’s not wrong to want full custody of those kids.
However, Michael’s use of Brook Lynn as collateral damage to achieve this goal is cruel and unacceptable. All he really needs to do is prove she committed a crime, which shouldn’t be that hard.
After all, she is running the house of horrors, with her constantly injecting Drew. As far as Willow and Chase are concerned, Willow is kidding herself.
Even if we were to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume Willow doesn’t realize her feelings for Chase, they definitely exist, and it’s only a matter of time before she acts on them.
