‘General Hospital’ spoilers pose the question: Is Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) right to destroy Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase’s (Josh Swickard) marriage to bring Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) down?
Michael Believes Chase is Still Smitten with Willow and is Determined to Use His Cousin’s Husband as Bait
Michael believes that he has a secret weapon in Chase. We all know that Chase is a major doofus when it comes to Willow. He can’t see the truth about her to save his own life, let alone his marriage.
Michael thinks that Chase wouldn’t have risked his career and entire life to protect Willow if there weren’t some residual feelings there. He may be right, but Brook Lynn will inevitably be collateral damage.
So, now Michael wants to “pour gasoline on the fire,” as Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) so eloquently put it. He plans to give Chase and Willow a push to have an affair.
Apparently, it would turn into a giant scandal if Willow and Chase had an affair and the truth came out. Carly tried to remind Michael that it would break Brook Lynn’s heart.
While it may not be fair to Brook Lynn, and it’s morally dubious to say the least, Michael is also convinced that Brook Lynn would be better off knowing the truth about Chase.
That said, Brook Lynn desperately wants to adopt baby Phoebe, and she has a much better shot at it if she’s happily married.
Michael using Chase to cause trouble in Brook Lynn’s marriage would undoubtedly hurt Brook Lynn immensely. Not to mention, crush her dreams of having a happy family with the man she loves.
Then again, if Chase is unfaithful to Brook Lynn with Willow, it would be on him if his marriage were destroyed as a result.
Is Michael Playing a Dangerous Game, or is He Exposing the Truth to Brook Lynn?
Michael does have a point and is obviously better off without Willow. Learning the truth about Willow cheating on him with his uncle, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), was definitely painful, but it’s for the best.
However, Brook Lynn is family. She’s his cousin, and Michael adores her. They live in the same house, share secrets, family dinners, and confide in each other regularly.
Brook Lynn has been a very loyal supporter of Michael, and, in a sense, his using Chase to secure full custody of his children by getting him to cheat on Brook Lynn is a kind of betrayal. Michael may be playing a dangerous game here.
However, Michael may not be breaking up Brook Lynn’s marriage as much as he is exposing Chase’s lingering feelings for Willow.
It’s unclear whether Chase would actually cross the line with Willow if given the opportunity, but we’ll find out soon enough.
Plus, we know those kids would be much better off living with Michael full -time. Willow is a liar, a manipulator, and a would- be murderess. Not to mention, she constantly portrays herself as an innocent victim.
Yet, Chase has blindly stood by Willow, defended her, and even set out to prove that Michael was the one who shot Drew. Understandably, Michael holds a grudge against him.
Chase definitely needs a reality check, and if Chase cheats, he deserves to lose Brook Lynn. However, if he truly loves Brook Lynn above all else, Michael’s plan is destined to fail.
