Peter Reckell, who plays Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives, posted a tribute to the late Peabo Bryson on X after hearing the sad news that the legendary singer had passed away on June 2, 2026, at age 75, following a stroke.

    Key Highlights

    • Bo and Hope shared their first dance to “Tonight I Celebrate My Love,” a duet sung by Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack.
    • The song became synonymous with Bo and Hope and was played at their milestones, including their wedding and vow renewal.
    • Bryson also sang the theme song for One Life to Live
    • Bryson also sang memorable theme songs for Disney movies

“Tonight, I Celebrate My Love” Played at Hope’s 18th Birthday Party

    Bo and Hope wedding

Bryson sang Bo and Hope Williams Brady’s (Kristian Alfonso) song, “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love.” The song was his duet with Roberta Flack and became one of the most cherished supercouple love anthems in soap opera history.

When the news of Bryson’s death broke, Peter Reckell took to X and posted,

“They say a song can immediately bring you back to emotions and memories,” he wrote. “‘Celebrate my love’ does exactly that! So sorry to hear of the loss of Peabo Bryson. Love and support goes out to family and friends!”

The song was memorably played at Hope’s 18th birthday party, where she had invited “bad boy” Bo Brady as her date against her father’s wishes.

Liz Chandler (Gloria Loring) sang the song at the party. Later that night, Bo and Hope shared their first dance at that party in 1983 to the Flack-Bryson version of the song.

During the romantic moment, Bo and Hope confessed their love for one another for the very first time. The song became synonymous with Bo and Hope. It would play during their major milestones, including their eventual wedding and vow renewals.

Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso Recalled the Impact the Song Had on Bo and Hope

During a Soap Opera Digest interview with Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso in 2004, Hope’s portrayer recalled when they traveled to New Orleans in 1984 for an on-location shoot,

“We had just landed in New Orleans, and they told us to wait. I’m usually the first one to take the luggage and get off the plane. And I remember hearing: “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love.”

    She continued,

“Hey Pete, listen! They’re playing our song!’ But it was a huge band outside the plane in the terminal, and there were thousands and thousands of people.”

The Grammy Award-winning singer also sang the theme song for One Life to Live‘s opening from 1985 to 1991. He is also known for his duet with Celine Dion on the title track of the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, and for his song A Whole New World from the Disney movie Aladdin.

Days of Our Lives Warmly Remembers Peabo Bryson and His Contribution to Bo and Hope’s Love Story

The official Days of Our Lives Instagram account also shared a message about Peabo Bryson’s passing,

“We are saddened to hear of the passing of Peabo Bryson, whose unforgettable voice helped soundtrack one of Days of Our Lives’ most beloved love stories. His duet with Roberta Flack, ‘Tonight, I Celebrate My Love,’ became the theme song for Bo Brady and Hope Williams, and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Days fans. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who loved his music.”

We here at Daily Soap Dish extend our deepest condolences to Bryson’s family and friends. His contribution to one of the most famous super couples in the history of daytime drama will never be forgotten.
