‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Gregory Chase may have been misdiagnosed with ALS. Thanks to Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), Gregory’s son, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), knows about his father’s diagnosis before his father could tell him himself.

Gregory was keeping his Lou Gehrig’s disease diagnosis a secret from Chase. He wanted to spend as much time with his sons as possible without them feeling like they had to care for him.

Tracy tells Chase about his father's ALS

Even though Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) found out a couple of weeks ago, they chose not to tell Chase yet. Tracy, being Tracy, couldn’t help herself but spill the news to him.

While General Hospital is known for tackling social issues with careful consideration and class, many fans have expressed that they hope to see this character be misdiagnosed.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Finn Could Find Out Gregory Was Misdiagnosed

Finn, an expert in his field, may discover that Gregory was misdiagnosed through further research into his condition.

Other neurological diseases can mimic ALS but are usually not fatal. Even Lyme disease could be misdiagnosed as ALS. Why can’t that be the case with Gregory?

A few years back, Finn diagnosed Gregory with Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome. Maybe the Lyme disease lingered and caused symptoms that mimic Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Perhaps Finn will look further into his symptoms and learn his father is not dying. This situation could be discovered if Finn and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) decide to look deeper into his case.

Remember what happened when Chase was poisoned? Finn found a way to save him. Granted, being poisoned is a lot different than an ALS diagnosis, but the fact remains Finn has performed miracles before.

When Liz was giving Finn advice, she told Finn it would be a good idea for him to be treated by someone more compassionate than the doctor he was seeing. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch for Finn to decide to treat Gregory himself to ensure he receives the best care possible.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Gregory Should Stick Around

Gregory’s misdiagnosis could work if the show handles this storyline with a measure of grace and caution, considering people are watching who may be suffering themselves or have a loved one who is.

It would be nice if GH decided to keep Gregory around. He has been great with many characters, including Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Tracy.

Gregory even managed to make Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) more palatable. Who didn’t have a smile on their face when Gregory asked her if she had ever had lavender ice cream?

Gregory was estranged from Finn for years, and they have finally reconciled. It would be heartbreaking to pull them apart if Gregory died.

He is also positively adorable with little Violet Finn (Jophielle Love). Gregory, Finn, Chase, and Violet have all bonded as a family.

General Hospital has been building solid friendships between Gregory, Alexis, Gregory, and Tracy, even if Tracy is a pain and almost always manages to offend.

His friendship with Alexis is incredibly refreshing, as Alexis has been helping Gregory come to terms with his illness and live his life to the fullest in the time he has left.

Gregory’s condition has been deteriorating rapidly, and his symptoms have continued to worsen over time. ALS is an insidious disease that tends to progress quickly over time. It would be wonderful to discover that Gregory has more time than expected.

Gregory should get to be there with his sons and granddaughter and not die from Lou Gehrig’s disease. Maybe GH can turn this story around before it’s too late.
