However, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is thinking about an exit strategy for them to get out of the mob.
While Jason understands Sonny’s need for revenge against the person responsible for the fire at his penthouse, he must also consider Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) and what’s best for all of them.
Jason also knows that Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) greatest wish for Danny was for him to be safe and free of danger.
If Sonny and Jason seek vengeance against this person, they risk triggering an all-out mob war. That is, assuming that whoever caused the fire isn’t someone like Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
Cyrus is a distant possibility. After all, he was the mastermind behind the bombing of the Floating Rib. Explosions are his style, but he’s busy at General Hospital killing patients with digitalis and “sending them to be with God.”
We think the fire at Sonny’s penthouse was a mob hit meant for Sonny, and Michael paid the price. Another issue to consider is Sonny’s recent heart troubles.
Sonny was working out at the gym, and while he was practicing his boxing moves, he collapsed, clutching his chest. Fortunately, Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) was there to help him.
Isaiah warned Sonny that his symptoms likely signify an impending heart attack or stroke. The good doctor urged Sonny to go to the hospital and get checked out. However, Sonny blew him off and refused to listen.
The mob boss told Jason what had happened at the gym, and that’s when he asked Jason to take over his business “when the time came.”
Jason turned down the offer and suggested that he help Sonny think about a future that doesn’t include organized crime.
Jason wants Sonny to take care of his heart, and working as a mafia don isn’t exactly a stress-free job.

Then, when Michael almost died in the fire, it became even more apparent to Sonny’s right-hand man that getting out of the business and keeping their kids safe should be their number one priority.
What If Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) had been in the penthouse when the fire broke out? She’s just a little girl, and she would have been traumatized for life.
Jason knows from his own experience in the mafia that dealing with enemies is no joke. He’s been attacked and shot at so many times. Sam broke up with him due to his dangerous lifestyle.
Jason is starting to see that Sam was right to protect Danny and Scout Quartermaine (Cosette Abinate). Now that Sam is gone, Jason is Danny’s only parent.
Jason must set a good example and be an enduring presence in Danny’s life as the teenager is still adjusting to the death of his mother, the one stable parent he had.
Jason finds himself at a crossroads. He wants his family to be safe, but Sonny’s organization is the only life he’s ever really known.
To make matters worse, Jason blames himself for what happened to Michael. It’s not his or Sonny’s fault what went down, but they need to think carefully about the choices they make moving forward.
As Sonny prepares to retaliate, Jason plans to leave the mob for good. How will this affect the long-time friendship between them?
Will Sonny realize that engaging further in this war would be a mistake? For the sake of his kids, he needs to get out now.
