‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that a “difficult episode” airs on January 8th amid Los Angeles fires that started on January 7th, and the soap used social media to warn fans that it may affect viewers.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: A Fire Breaks Out In Sonny’s Penthouse
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires currently raging in Los Angeles County,”
the post read.
“In light of current events, today’s episode of General Hospital (and several that follow) may prove too difficult to watch for some. Please keep this in consideration prior to tuning in.”
The January 8th episode starts where it left off, with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) caught in a fire that broke out in Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse.
The scenes show Michael on fire, Jason frantically trying to put out the flames, and Michael, who is severely burned, is rushed to the hospital.
While Michael’s family was at GH, waiting on an update, Lucas Jones (Van Hasis) informed them that Michael may not survive. The episode may be too difficult for some viewers to watch.
The soap depicts a fictional fire on-screen. However, several soap actors live off-screen through the devastation and tragedy the fires caused.
Some were forced to evacuate their homes, and others lost their homes entirely.
Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew Quartermaine on GH, shared,
“We are safe, but this is what’s left of our beautiful home,”
The actor captioned a video of his property as the flames burned around it.
“Our home where our kids were raised, and they wanted to raise their own someday.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Soap Stars Forced To Evacuate
Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis Davis on GH, said she was safe from the fires. Tracey E. Bregman, who plays Lauren Fenmore Baldwin on The Young and the Restless, lost her home in 2018 after the Woolsey and Hill fires left devastation in their wake.
Bregman, an animal lover and advocate, reminded everyone of all the poor animals who lost their homes and were left to wander. She encouraged people to put out water for them.
Katherine Kelly Lang, who plays Brooke Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful, shared a video of smoke rising behind the homes.
Vanessa Marcil, who played Brenda Barrett on General Hospital had to evacuate her home.
General Hospital’s Kate Mansi, who plays Kristina Corinthos-Davis, also had to leave her home with her family and dog.
The Young and the Restless’s Eric Braden, who plays Victor Newman, posted a video on Instagram. The fire was close to his home. Braden showed the fire across his backyard pool and over the fence in his video.
Fans and soap stars alike left messages. Greg Rikaart, who plays Leo Stark on Days of Our Lives, wrote,
“Thinking about you and your family, Eric, and hoping you are all safe.”
General Hospital’s Maurice Benard remarked,
“That’s terrible, Eric, you ok?”
Braden responded to Benard and said,
“Hello, Maurice, nice to hear from you! I’ll know tomorrow if we still have a house.”
The state of emergency in Los Angeles has forced over 80,000 people to evacuate their homes. At least two people have died.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by the LA fires.
