‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers share how Laura Wright, who plays the one and only Carly Spencer, feels her character’s romance with Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) is unlike anything Carly has ever had before with anyone.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Carly Isn’t Listening To The Naysayers
Wright spoke with Soap Opera Digest and expressed her opinion on Carly and Brennan’s relationship and how she feels Carly will react when she finds out Jack has enlisted her daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), to work as a spy for the WSB.
The actress said that she didn’t hesitate for a moment to keep Carly and Brennan’s chemistry alive when the uber popular Charles Mesure stepped away from the role, when many fans were rooting for Mesure’s version of Jack to woo Carly and watch them get together.
“One minute the actor is there, and the next minute we were looking for another actor,” she recalled. There was no choice but to recast; with the amount of story that was already written and in place, it wasn’t able to be rewritten or adjusted,”
She explained.
The fact that the story was so fleshed out made it impossible for the writers to abandon their plan. Plus, the story involved Wright’s TV daughter, Eden McCoy.
Laura was impressed by McKenna as he was up to the task and ready to go. He wasn’t intimidated by the amount of material and took it all in stride.
Many of Carly’s loved ones have been trying to warn her away from Brennan. Everyone from her BFF, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), to her brother, Lucas Jones (Van Hasis), has told her that Brennan is a dangerous man and to stay away, but she isn’t listening.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Will Carly And Brennan Endure Her Finding Out That Jack Recruited Joss For The WSB?
Carly doesn’t want to listen because of the way she feels when she’s around Jack. They are utterly smitten with one another.
“When she’s with him, she feels something she’s never felt before, and that’s that someone really wants to be with her, and it feels more like home.”
Carly’s portrayer admitted.
“Jack feels very much like the right guy for Carly at this particular juncture in her life.”
Wright goes on to say that when Carly uncovers the truth about Jack recruiting her daughter for the WSB, she’s likely to “lose her mind.”
Wright also says that her relationship with Brennan is very different from the one she had with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). There was a level of aggressiveness and hostility with Sonny that doesn’t exist with Brennan. Jack doesn’t yell at her the way Sonny used to yell at Carly. Brennan treats Carly with the respect she deserves, which is a huge deal to her.
“So, in a lot of ways, I think it’s very different this time,”
Wright continues. When asked about the fallout when Carly discovers Jack and Joss are working together, she says,
“We can’t go there story-wise, because when we do go there and the truth comes out, it’s got to be just a complete smack in the face,”
She surmises.
We have to wonder if Carly and Brennan will endure her finding out about Joss. The fans hope so. We take a hard pass on the millionth Sonny and Carly reboot as Carly has finally found someone intriguing who treats her like a Queen.
