‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers: Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) looks like a goner. Hopefully, this doesn’t mean what it usually means, and Roger isn’t going anywhere.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Roger Howarth is Brilliant
Howarth is a brilliant actor and could probably play any part. He can effortlessly slide into his roles, and even in the case of Austin, who actually has some likable traits, he can be redeemed in his last moments, thanks to Roger Howarth’s stunning portrayal and carefully crafted acting skills.
There is no doubt that Maura West, who plays the deliciously cunning Ava Jerome, gave an Emmy-winning performance when she read Austin the riot act for leaving her in the dark about Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) and Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
However, it was Howarth who gave a more subtle but just as stellar performance when he confessed his feelings for the lovely lush. He tore hearts out with desperation and despair and even had us rooting for him.
The scene at the gallery with Ava dropped a significant hint that Austin would soon make a memorable departure. He laid his feelings on the line and exposed a very vulnerable side of himself.
Even when Austin thanked Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) for helping him finally “do the right thing” and get the goods on Cyrus, you knew something was up.
Cue a creepy scene with Austin coming into his seemingly empty home, wondering what someone was doing there, and then the gunshot. In the last scene, we saw Austin lying motionless on the floor and bleeding.
Unfortunately, things don’t look good for Austin, and he may not survive. Perhaps this means something we had hoped would pass for a long time. The show may correct its major mistake in killing Franco Baldwin.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: We Realize It’s a Long Shot, But…..
We recognize it’s a long shot, and rumor has it, it is much more plausible that he will come back as Todd Manning, considering Blair Cramer‘s (Kassie DePaiva) resurgence in Port Charles in late August.
Some of us still hold out hope that Franco will come home to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and tell her that he was faking his death to set up Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Tears were shed when he died as Liz was doing her best to hold onto him.
Franco and Liz were a great couple, and Liz seemed far more interesting when she was with him. It’s not that Liz isn’t a good character, but the writers have hardly given her a decent story in years. She’s with Finn Hamilton (Michael Easton), but it doesn’t compare to Franco and Liz’s beautiful love story.
The chemistry between the two actors was impossible to miss, and as much as Liz gave Franco redemption, he gave her backbone. They were yin and yang and gave each other perfect balance.
While we know it isn’t very likely, some fans still want to see Franco return. We still remember how, although Franco was somewhat dark, he showed his softer side with Liz and her boys. In turn, Liz matured in her relationship with Franco.
Since Austin may be gone, it’s way past time for GH to resurrect Franco.
