‘General Hospital’ spoilers pose the question: Can Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) overcome all the obstacles standing in their way to go the distance? There are some rumors circulating that our “JaBritt” romance may not last.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Fans Want to See “JaBritt” Work Out
Many fans were heartbroken when Burton left the show in November 2021 when the show let him go due to a disagreement over COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
Thiebaud was also gutted, considering that she had waited for her character to develop a real love story, and Jason was presumed dead.
Britt and Jason had grown closer and shared a memorable night of passion while on the run together from Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and his men.
Their romance was halted abruptly when Jason had to marry Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) to protect their families when Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was presumed dead. Then, Jason “died.”
Thiebaud remained on GH while Burton went on to play Harrison Michaels on Days of Our Lives. In January 2023, Britt was killed fighting off “The Hook” to save Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy).
Now that Burton and Thiebaud are both back on GH, fans really want to see their relationship work out. Sadly, the constant looming threats aren’t exactly working to their advantage.
Britt is working for Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) on her father, Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) final project.
Cullum ordered Britt to end her relationship with Jason and threatened to withhold her Huntington’s medication if she doesn’t stop seeing him.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Show Is Hinting at Jason’s Presumed Death Again
Cullum tried to kill Sonny. Nothing is standing in the way of him killing Jason if Sonny or Jason doesn’t get to him first.
However, it’s possible that Jason will be shot or otherwise harmed by Cullum, since Burton is set to take a hiatus from the show to spend more time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom, and his family.
Plus, the show recently hinted that Jason will soon be presumed dead once again. Jason wanted to secure arrangements with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) for Danny Morgan’s (Asher Antonyzyn) care “in the event that something happens to him.”
That was a pretty strong indication of where Jason’s storyline is headed. What does Jason’s temporary exit mean for his relationship with Britt?
Additionally, fans took note of a very telling detail when Jason and Britt recently spent the night together at the cabin. We never really saw the couple’s intimacy play out on screen like we had their first time together.
What we did see was a half -naked Britt the following morning, covered up by the bed sheets. It may be Burton’s choice not to participate in full-on love scenes now that he’s married to Michelle Lundstrom, out of respect for his new wife.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Does the Show Have Other Plans for the Characters?
Another worry we have is that one credible soap leaker claimed that when Burton takes his break, Britt is going to have a new love story.
That same soap leaker claimed that Burton isn’t happy with his current storyline with Britt. We can’t imagine Burton not wanting to capitalize on his onscreen spark with Thiebaud, but stranger things have turned out to be true.
Whatever the case, the vibe between Britt and Jason is very different this time around, and something seems off. Thiebaud and Burton’s chemistry is still off the charts, but the show seems reluctant to fully lean into their romance. Even after a long slow-burn.
Obviously, on soaps, it’s very common for lovers to face obstacles. The question is whether GH plans to commit to “JaBritt” or if the show has other plans for the characters.
Soap Opera Digest also reported last month that Thiebaud is “disappointed” that Burton is taking a hiatus, since it will throw a wrench into their romance, but she also “understands his desire to spend time with his family.” Apparently, Thiebaud’s main reason for returning to GH was to play this love story with Burton.
Hopefully, the drama between the actors is only taking place onscreen and not behind the curtain. Fans waited forever to see Jason and Britt get their second chance at love, and it would be disappointing to us to see the show pivot the characters in a different direction.
