On the May 7th episode of GH, Emma Scorpio Drake (Braedyn Bruner) had an OBGYN appointment with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud).
Britt Switched Emma’s Birth Control Medication
Britt filled in for Emma’s regular doctor, Dr. Frida Navarro (Christina Farraro). Emma wasn’t exactly thrilled at first that Britt was examining her, considering their sordid history.
However, the pair worked past the awkwardness and proceeded with the visit. Emma told her that she was experiencing headaches, and Britt explained that sometimes birth control pills can give women unpleasant symptoms like headaches.
So, Britt switched her birth control prescription. The scene left some viewers wondering whether Emma will end up pregnant with Gio Palmeri’s (Giovanni Mazza) baby.
Since Britt prescribed a different birth control for Emma, she thought it would be a wise idea to come back and see Britt instead of Dr. Navarro.
It looked like Emma softened toward Britt by the end of the appointment. That said, what if this new medication fails on Emma and she discovers that she’s pregnant?
Soaps don’t tend to feature random scenes like this unless they plan to connect it to an upcoming storyline.
Of course, Emma being pregnant with Gio’s child would be super soapy for the teen couple. Emma would need to face a heartbreakingly difficult decision whether or not to keep the baby.
Plus, GH fans know that Gio’s mom, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), gave birth to Gio when she was only a teenager.
Gio was the result of a summer fling that Brook Lynn had with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) back in the day.
Brook Lynn kept the pregnancy a secret and believed she gave the baby up for adoption. She believed she would never see the child again.
Brook Lynn Could Help Emma and Gio with a Very Difficult Decision
However, her mom, Lois Cerullo, arranged for Gio to be raised by a family friend, Camilla. So, Gio basically grew up surrounded by Brook Lynn and her family.
Brook Lynn didn’t know that the baby was Gio until last year. We can only imagine how Brook Lynn would react if Gio were expecting a baby.
Would she encourage the two teens to have the child and give them up for adoption? Of course, the decision would be up to Gio and Emma.
Yet, we can imagine that Brook Lynn’s own teenage experience may have some influence over their decision. Brook Lynn understands what it means to give up a child.
Since birth control isn’t 100 percent effective, we can see GH tackling a teen pregnancy story, especially given who Gio’s mother is.
Plus, Soap Opera Digest also teased a few months ago that there may be some trouble ahead for Gio and Emma.
It would also expand the Quartermaine family, giving Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) a great-great-grandchild and Ned Quartermaine a grandchild.
Not to mention, Robin Scorpio Drake (Kimberly McCollough) and Patrick Drake (Jasom Thompson) would at least get a mention or a shout-out. It would be wonderful if Robin could come back to help her daughter.
However, we’re unsure whether McCollough would return, even for a short-term storyline. The arc would definitely involve several key characters on the soap.
It would be very interesting to see which direction Emma and Gio would take if Emma had a bun in the oven. A soapy teen pregnancy storyline could surely be in the works here.
