The young man who endeavored to assassinate former U.S. president Donald Trump researched Kate Middleton and plotted another assassination of an unknown target; the FBI has revealed.
Thomas Matthew Crooks reportedly downloaded images of Princess Catherine. Crooks was apparently fixated on the British royal. The FBI searched Crooks’ home after the attack on Saturday and found evidence of this on his electronic devices and mobile phone.
The FBI Confirmed That Crooks Heavily Researched Kate Middelton
The FBI had previously refused to identify the royal Crooks had researched. The 20-year-old would-be assassin, Matthew Crooks also researched President Joe Biden, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
It’s unclear why he looked up the Princess of Wales, as everything else he looked at was focused on American politicians. Kate is the only non-American in the group found in Crooks’ internet search history.
Kensington Palace declined to comment, as the royal family never comments on security matters or politics.
Kate was seen at Wimbledon for the men’s finals the day after Crooks attempted the assassination of Trump. She presented Carlos Alcaraz with the winning trophy.
The Princess of Wales has been recovering from her cancer treatment and has kept herself out of the public eye for the most part. She made an appearance in June at Trooping the Color, much to the delight of royal fans and her family.
Crooks’ device also contained the dates of both the Republican and Democratic conventions. The attempted assassination took place at a Republican rally in Pennsylvania. Crooks was killed by the Secret Service after he opened fire on Trump.
The former President, Donald Trump, was inches away from death as the bullet struck the upper part of his ear instead. The gun in Crooks’ possession was legally purchased in 2013 and registered to the shooter’s father, Matthew Crooks.
Crooks also had a membership to a local gun club for at least a year. His political ideology isn’t clear, and it is suggested that Crooks suffered from mental health issues. Including but not limited to depression and an alleged history of being bullied.
