In a conversation with trauma expert Gabor Maté to discuss his book, Spare, Prince Harry lavished praise on his wife, Meghan Markle.

During his most recent interview, Harry revealed details about his past experiences, his counseling sessions, and his desire to leave the Royal Family. One of the topics discussed was how his father, King Charles III, had not given him a lot of physical affection while he was growing up.

But had it not been for Meghan, who knows what could have happened to the Duke of Sussex. In his comments, he said: “My wife saved me, I was stuck in this world and she was from a different world and helped draw me out of that…My partner is an exceptional human being and I am eternally grateful [for her].”

Nevertheless, he emphasized that if he hadn’t invested the effort in therapy, he would never have been able to liberate himself. And as part of that process, Harry stated that he had to work on himself when it came to his children too. In his memoir, Spare, the Duke admitted that his father did not hug him when he relayed the news that his mother, Princess Diana, had died.

With that being said, Harry decided to put in the effort with his children in order to avoid making the same mistakes. His following comments confirmed as much: “It leaves me in the position of a father having two children trying to smother them with love.

“I feel a huge responsibility not to pass on any trauma or negative experiences that I’ve had as a kid or as a man growing up.” The Sussexes have certainly forged a life of independence in raising their two children. And that is the most important thing to remember regardless of what others may have to say about it all.
