President Joe Biden is facing declining approval ratings, trailing even behind Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a recent Monmouth poll.

The survey, conducted in December, revealed that only 34 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s job performance, with a slightly higher 35 percent approving of Harris. This marks a significant drop from Biden’s initial high of 54 percent approval when he took office, now accompanied by a 61 percent disapproval rate.

Expressing dissatisfaction with his poll numbers, Biden reportedly questioned his staff during a meeting last month about the steps being taken to address the decline.

The president gathered a small group of aides at the White House residence before his Thanksgiving trip to Nantucket, emphasizing the urgency of addressing his low approval ratings.

The December Monmouth University found that 34 percent of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing, compared to 35 percent who approve of Harris. She's traditionally been less popular than the president

Both President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have been vocal about their frustration with the persistently low approval numbers over the past months. Despite Biden’s promotion of “Bidenomics” and improvements in economic indicators following the challenges inherited from the previous administration, public sentiment remains critical.

Poll after poll indicates that Americans are still dissatisfied, with many not attributing incremental improvements to the current administration.

Examining the data, President Biden received his lowest ratings from Americans in December, particularly on the issues of immigration and inflation. A significant 69 percent of respondents expressed disapproval of Biden’s approach to immigration, while 68 percent conveyed disapproval of his management of inflation.

Furthermore, the economic strain is evident as 44 percent of Americans acknowledge struggling to maintain their current financial standing. This underscores the widespread concern and dissatisfaction among the public with the administration’s handling of key policy areas, contributing to the overall decline in approval ratings.

What do you think? Are you surprised at all to see these ratings and what does this mean for the 2024 election? Will Biden fall on his face and could there possibly be a chance for Kamala to take the reigns? Let us know in the comments below.
