The man behind DC Films, Walter Hamada, has set the record straight for the reasoning behind Amber Heard‘s lack of screentime in ‘Aquaman 2’ and it has nothing to do with the court case she currently finds herself in, but rather something as common as contracts. Who would have thought?

Hamada told Depp’s attorney, Ben Chew, that whatever was going on outside of the film the past few years had nothing to do with Warner Brother’s decision to downplay her role as Mera, and it didn’t have any effect on her pay. Rather, it was all because of contract negotiations.

Walter Hamada made it clear that WB wanted to reign in pay raises which can cost too much for a film and held people to option agreements in contacts they originally signed. Heard made a million dollars for the first film, and since WarnerMedia optioned her contract for the sequel, they gave her 2 million bucks. This is what Heard‘s attorneys have called out as a sign that her career’s been damaged by this case.

However, Hamada says it’s not the case and even gave a little insight into ‘Aquaman 2’ and who will be co-leading next to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and well, it isn’t Amber, so in fact, they wanted to introduce a new character or propel another that already existed rather than using Amber, and apparently, that’s been the plan since the beginning.

But of course, there are a million other reasons that Amber is finding. Look, I don’t mind Amber, I think she’s done some cool movies and I enjoyed her as a Mera in ‘Aquaman’, but apparently she just wanted in the plans for the sequel. That happens to characters.

What do you think? Will Amber cling to the idea that the reason she was cut out of ‘Aquaman 2’ was because of this trial or can this be put to rest finally? Let us know in the comments below.
