‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that Melissa “Missy’ Reeves fans will get an extra Christmas present when the actress returns to screens and brings Jennifer back to Salem.
Currently off screen, Jennifer was last seen conversing with husband Jack Deveraux (Mathew Ashford) while played by soap vet Cady McClain. McClain took over the legacy character role when Reeves decided traveling back and forth from the Days L.A. set and her home in Tennessee was not optimal in the time of Covid.
Fans took to McCain very quickly, considering Reeves has been in the role on and off since 1985.

Not the first to fill the spot when Reeves took a break– Stephanie Cameron took over the part of Jennifer for 2.5 years when, in 1995 Reeves abruptly quit the show, apparently at the insistence of her husband, soap star Scott Reeves (ex- Ryan McNeil, Y&R and ex- Steven Webber, GH), McClain certainly embraced the character. Her turn in the role earned the actress her third Daytime Emmy.
While fans are ecstatic to soon see the familiar face of Reeves once more, perhaps not all of her co-stars share the same sentiment.
Back in the summer of 2020, Reeves came under fire for “liking” several anti-Black Lives Matter posts and was called out by Linsey Godfrey (ex-Sarah Horton), Lamon Archey (Eli Grant) and Martha Madison (Belle Black). The co-stars also condemned Reeves’ homophobic and transphobic support of anti-gay fast food chain Chick-fil-A.
With McClain in the role, Jennifer learned her husband had slept with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) while Jennifer was in a coma and discovered her husband had yet another (evil) love child who ruined daughter Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) marriage and “accidentally” killed her mother, Dr. Laura Horton (Jamie Lyn Bauer).
No wonder Jenifer needed time to regroup off camera!
While McClain has said that she’d be more than happy to play Jennifer again, she also told Soap Opera Digest she understands that producers wanted Reeves to step back into her iconic role.
