That’s what a lot of royal fans can’t help but wonder as the British tabloid press seems to be more focused on Harry and Meghan rather than the fact that Prince Andrew is being sued for sexual assault. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Andrew and Prince Harry are two royals who have been making a lot of headlines these last few weeks. That’s because Virginia Giuffre filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, stating that Prince Andrew repeatedly sexually assaulted her when she was 17. According to ITV News, lawyers for Giuffre say they believe Prince Andrew will end up in court after their client filed a lawsuit on Monday against the royal.

What’s more, there’s also speculation that Queen Elizabeth might take Harry and Meghan to court for a book that claims Her Majesty “owned up” to the couple’s claims of racism behind closed palace doors, which has not been confirmed. Either way, many critics can’t help but wonder why the press is talking more about Harry and Meghan and less about Andrew.
ITV reporter Chis Ship took to his Twitter account to clarify a few things by writing, “For those claiming on Twitter that this story is being used to “divert attention” from the Prince Andrew case, it’s worth pointing out some facts: the publicists of Finding Freedom book placed these extracts in the public domain. Not Buckingham Palace and not Harry and Meghan.”
He also added a link of all his stories on the Prince Andrew case and the allegations made against him. Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter.
Many of them wrote, “That doesn’t mean you have to pounce on it Chris. After the Queen used her lawyers to stop the UK press from going after Andrew people want to know why she’s been so silent with everything Harry and Meghan have been through at the hands of the press. It is not a good look,” along with, “It’s obvious that your biased towards the Markles or you often ‘sit on the fence,’ however, ofcourse publicists will be leaking extracts of the epilogue as it suits them and the Harkles know it. It’s just a coincidence that the Andrew situ has ‘kicked off’ at the same time.”
Another critic said: “Not a big royal fan living on the US side of the pond, but I’m a big Twitter user. Sussexes not seen in public/on American tv since the Oprah Winfrey interview, yet they trend weekly, if not daily. Tells me they have a strong brand. Respect for Queen wanes as she protects her son Andrew.”
