Lawsuit? What lawsuit? It appears as though Prince Andrew is taking it one day at a time, despite the fact that he is being sued for sexual assault by an alleged sex trafficking victim. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, Virgina Giuffre filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, stating that Prince Andrew repeatedly sexually assaulted her when she was 17. According to ITV News, lawyers for Giuffre say they believe Prince Andrew will end up in court after their client filed a lawsuit on Monday against the royal. In the lawsuit, brought under the Child Victims Act, Giuffre claims the prince sexually abused her on multiple occasions.
Prince Andrew Is Feeling Super Relaxed Despite Sexual Assault Lawsuit
And now sources say that the Duke of York is supposedly taking all of this in stride.
One source close to the situation told The Sun: “He has been cheerful and relaxed at Balmoral. His legal team always expected this and have prepared. They advised the Duke to keep calm and carry on and he is taking their advice.”
However, Giuffre’s lawyer, David Boies, says he has no doubt that the case will come before a jury. He told ITV News, “This case will come before jury, the jurisdiction of the federal courts in New York I think is unquestioned, the conduct took place in New York. This case is not going away. Virginia Giuffre is not going to go away, and I’m not going to go away. This case is going to go forward, whatever obstacles that they try to put in front of us, we will overcome, once this case goes to court.”
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has denied the allegations that have been made against Prince Andrew, stating: “It is emphatically denied that The Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts. Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation.”
