There was a time in which Prince Harry reportedly said that whatever his wife Meghan Markle wants, she gets. Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case here as there’s a new report that suggests the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might be forced to christen their daughter Lilibet Diana in California and not in the UK with Queen Elizabeth present. Here’s what you need to know.
Lilibet Diana was born back in June and according to reports at the time, Harry and Meghan were hoping to have her christened at Saint George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, just like her brother Archie Harrison was back in 2019. Yet one royal expert believes that might not happen.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Daughter Lilibet Diana Might Not Be Christened In The UK After All
Royal author Richard Fitzwilliam believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might have to plan for a christening near their home in Montecito, Calif – without the rest of the royal family there.
He told The Express: “It seems certain that her christening will be in Meghan’s home state and with the secrecy but without the controversy that surrounded Archie’s christening. Harry and Meghan’s relations with the British press went badly downhill when Archie was christened in private and the names of the godparents were not released.”
Fitzwilliam added: “The Sussexes were emphatic that they intended to do things their own way and so it has proved.”
The royal expert also pointed out that Harry and Meghan are yet to release a photo of their daughter, proving once again that they are doing things their way.
