Bette Midler spoke her mind only to be destroyed and trashed by ‘trans activists’ on Twitter this week. Midler took to the social media platform to write, “WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped over our bodies, our lives and even of our name! They don’t call us ‘women’ anymore; they call us ‘birthing people’ or ‘menstruators’, and even ‘people with vaginas’! Don’t let them erase you! Every human on earth owes you!”

This immediately sparked outrage and people began dumping on the actress. The tweet has since been deleted but the comments continue even after she apologized for… well, whatever it was that she said was bad.

“Actress Bette Midler has been met with criticism online by trans activists after she tweeted women have been “stripped of their rights, bodies and their name” following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V Wade.”

Midler did have some on her side however who defended her saying, “It’s a shame you caved. You were absolutely right.”, “Wanting women to be called women IS transphobia to the trans crowd. You were right. No need to explain further.”, “It isn’t transphobic to speak to for women’s rights. Don’t listen to those who say it is. The New York Times article is an important read.”, and “You don’t have to apologize or explain your motives: you were right all along.”

However, a majority of the comments were spiteful, hateful and added nothing meaningful to the conversation. Oh wait… That’s just Twitter.

Bette has doubled down at this point though and apologized profusely, but it still isn’t good enough.

What do you think? Is what Bette said transphobic at all or are people just losing their minds? Let us know in the comments below.
