British Royal Family News says that Bette Midler is defending Meghan Markle after British television personality Piers Morgan lashed out at the Duchess for encouraging people to vote. Piers says that Meghan should be stripped from her title after she broke protocol and the crown’s tradition of remaining silent during elections.
The 55-year-old said, “The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way.”
British Royal Family News: Bette Midler Comes To Meghan Markle’s Defense
It didn’t take very long for celebrities to come to the Duchess’ defense. One of them happened to be singer and actress Bette Midler, who wrote a simple “Oh, f**k off.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for royal watchers, critics and fans to chime in on the controversy. While there were a lot of people who agreed with Piers Morgan, seeing how both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still part of the royal family, others agreed with Bette by saying that the royals are in desperate need for a change. Just last week Meghan Markle participated in a virtual event called When All Women Vote, where she made her remarks.
“We vote to honor those who came before us and to protect those who will come after us,” the Duchess of Sussex said. “At this juncture, if we aren’t part of the solution, we’re part of the problem,” Markle explained. “If you’re complacent, you’re complicit. We can make the difference in this election. And we will make the difference in this election.”
So far Meghan Markle has not responded to Piers Morgan’s comments although at this point, it’s doubtful that anything will be said. Instead, there’s a good chance that the Duchess of Sussex will continue to encourage women to get out and vote this November.
