Talk about one very awkward family reunion. There’s a new report that says all eyes will be on Prince William and Prince Harry as they will be expected to stand shoulder to shoulder during their grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral next week.
This comes after both Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle seemingly threw the entire royal family under the bus in their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last month. Here’s what you need to know.
While there are some reports that suggest William and Harry are not on speaking terms, especially after the Duke of Sussex trashed his family during his interview with the Queen of all Media, William won’t be interested in making any small talk with his brother. But at the same time, the two men will be united in grief at their grandfather’s funeral.
All Eyes Will Be On Prince William And Prince Harry During Prince Philip’s Funeral
Harry is expected to fly to the UK to be with his royal family members, while his pregnant wife Meghan Markle will stay behind in California.
Despite the fact that Harry has barely spoken to his brother in the last two years, he’s going to try and let all of that go so he can walk shoulder to shoulder with him on Saturday to honor their late grandfather. Still, things before then will certainly be fraught with tension behind the scenes.
Yet, sources say there is hope that their shared grief will also help the pair recall their once-close bond and finally discuss their falling out.
“Both are fully aware of their shared history and will no doubt remember what impact their grandfather had on their life growing up,” a royal source told Britain’s The Mirror.
What’s more, Prince Philip would liked to have seen the two brothers put their differences aside and make up.
Philip “urged them both to put to rest their differences, and not only remember their bond but also be mindful of their duty to the Queen and the country,” the Mirror’s source said.
Only 30 people will be able to attend under the current coronavirus restrictions, but the service will be broadcast live on television.
