Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has checked himself into rehab voluntarily after a recent relapse and unfortunately, the group will have to cancel their Summer shows in Las Vegas, though I think we can all get behind the reasoning. The group took to Instagram to share the news saying,

“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.”

This was supposed to be their first show since the pandemic hit, however, the shows have been canceled while Tyler recovers. The good news is that they are expecting to be able to perform the second leg of shows in September!

Steven has been very open about his struggles with addiction and has been sober for quite some time leading up to the relapse. However, pain killers can be terrible for a recovering addict and just recently we saw Bam Margera refuse to take them after breaking his wrist and dislocating his elbow for fear that he would experience a relapse while taking pain medication.

We wish the best for Steven in his time of recovery it must have been incredibly difficult to deal with something like this but we know he will get through it.

The group finished their message by saying, “Thank you for your understanding and for your support for Steven during this time.”

They also stated that there would be refunds by e-mail, “If you purchased your tickets via Ticketmaster, you will be refunded and will receive an email shortly with details, otherwise please contact your point of purchase for information on refunds.”
