ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers finds that right now, in Port Charles there are two characters who are rather down on their luck. One is Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) because he just lost his fortune to rightful Cassadine heir, Nik Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) and the love of his life, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) because he orchestrated a whole fake daughter for her through Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattson). At this point he may lose his Cassadine family status altogether if the DNA test that Nik ordered comes up negative. Needless to say things are not really looking that great for Valentin right now.

The other person in Port Charles who’s luck is rather less than stellar right now is Nelle Benson Archer (Chloe Lanier). So far she’s lost a kidney, her baby boy, two fiances (only one is still living) and went to jail, where before being released, she was stabbed by Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) for no apparent reason other than Ryan was feeling testy that day. You would think that now that she’s out of jail, and has been invited to move into the Quartermaine mansion by former fiance Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) that her troubles would be over, right? Nope! She’s been relegated to the boathouse. The boathouse! How do you like them apples!
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: A common thread
What do these two characters have in common besides their horrific luck and the fact that their lives just so happened to crumble at the exact same time? It’s not a what, exactly, it’s a who, and that who is Attorney Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight). Right now, Valentin is trying to get more ELQ shares so that he has a controlling interest in the company. He’s trying to get Brooke Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) to give up her shares in exchange for her artistic freedom. If she had the money that Valentin would give her for her ELQ shares then she could buy out her bad contract and be able to perform as she likes.

But Brooke Lynn has no real reason to talk to Valentin, their paths simply wouldn’t realistically cross. Also, Brooke Lynn is a Quartermaine and there’s no way a Quartermaine would end up giving a Cassadine controlling interest in anything. However, there is one person who owns 5% in ELQ that might would push Valentin over the top in a controlling interest like he wants, and that person is Nelle Benson Archer. What Nelle wants right now is money, and that’s what Valentin has. He even told attorney Martin Grey that he has millions stashed in offshore accounts that aren’t even related to the Cassadine Estate that he had access to – which prompted ol’ Marty to tell him that from now on he’s paying all his retainer fees up-front.

What if Martin Gray, to coin a phrase by Joey Tribbiani, ‘put his hands together’ and somehow got Nelle and Valentin together in some sort of arrangement (I’m assuming an arranged marriage) in order to join their ELQ shares and give Valentin controlling interest. Or, alternately he could get them together, then break them up and have Nelle divorce him for irreconcilable differences and win the case which would include all their ELQ shares jointly and then Nelle could laugh all the way to the bank while she ended up with the controlling portion of ELQ. Now, why would Martin put two previously unknown people together? To make a quick buck obviously but…
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: It would be mutually beneficial.
If this happened then Martin Gray could say that he ruined the Quartermaines a restored Valentin’s Cassadine honor all in one fell swoop. How would that benefit Martin Gray? Obviously, not too far outside the realm of being a lawyer dwells the political realm. Most politicians start out as lawyers don’t ya know. So if Martin were planning a political career this may be the perfect time to start making those waves. Rebuilding a Cassadine and taking down the Quartermaines would certainly cement his place as a VIP on the Port Charles law landscape, and who knows if he wanted to make waves outside of Port Charles he could very well use all that as leverage.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: But where would that leave Nelle and Valentin?
I’m getting there. Now, it seems that Nelle is no stranger to quickie weddings and just doing things for the coin. After all, she happened to marry Shiloh Archer even after they were in jail and had only met like maybe one time. I’m still not sure how on earth she managed to convince him to marry her but let’s have a round of applause for the hustle that took. Another thing, it doesn’t look like Valentin is all that sold on love anymore anyway, especially after what happened with Nina. Will they form an unlikely love connection born of desperation and hunger for the almighty dollar? They could! It would make the most sense. Stay tuned!!!
