Actor Jon Lindstrom, who plays both Kevin and Ryan Chamberlain on the highly-rated ABC soap, puts it this way to Soaps in Depth in an interview, “It’s cynically cliché to blame it all on the mother but the truth is the truth. The latter brother was sexually abused by his mother and most serial killers have very bad mothering. Not all of them, but in his case, it follows.”

Simply put, Jon says that the reason why Ryan is as evil as he mostly has to do with the lack of love in his life. The actor continued, “Ryan never had the kind of love and nurturing he needed at the time of his life when it was most important. Kevin, on the other hand, did get that when his father made a terrible choice and grabbed one son and left the other one.”
That twist of fate led to Kevin getting the kind of life that Ryan also deserved but never got. This might also be the reason why Ryan loves Ava Jermone (Maura West) so much that just like his mother, he wants to kill her! Of course, time will only tell what Ryan will do next. Fans will have to tune in for all of the action.
