‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) is back in Salem. This was after a huge jailbreak orchestrated by Orpheus (George DelHoyo). As much as we love Rolf, we have to say he is a major fail in one respect. Let’s talk about the latest, how he reacted, and why he made a huge mistake.

First, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal there’s some background in case you missed it. Orpheus arranged a power failure to get several people out of Statesville. Once free, Rolf went straight to the DiMera mansion with one thing in mind.
He wanted the chip back. You know, the infamous Stefano DiMera (Stephen Nichols) essence. There’s just one problem. He threatened Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) with a gun to get it. This is where things went really wrong. And we sort of loved seeing this play out.
He learned what Chad did, and we love how it was done. See, back when that plot was first wrapping up, a scene was cut where Chad and Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) debated over what to do with the chip.
It belongs to DiMera, and Chad is in charge of the company. It’s also their father. So, they talked it over and felt it was best to burn the chip and put their father to rest once and for all. After all, he’s not only caused a lot of damage, but he’s gone.
His body no longer lives, so he technically doesn’t belong in this world now. They played this scene in full, which we assume is to pad material while they catch up. This led to a great moment and some excellent acting.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Painful realization
So, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal Rolf did not take that news well. At all. We love it. Utay did an excellent job portraying the anger and pain. As he sees it, his life’s work is destroyed. Plus, he now lost the man he admired so much. It was a moving scene that made us feel bad for him. However, we also wanted to smack him at the same time.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Oversight
So, we can’t with Rolf right now. By his reaction, it’s clear this is it for Stefano. No way to bring him back. This seems a bit sloppy on both his and Stefano’s parts. This is an important person to him, obviously.
And he was beyond proud of his work. So much so, he once refused to undo it. So we can’t understand how he didn’t make a copy. Any writer can tell you not backing up your work leads said writer’s greatest nightmare—a permanent loss of said work.
We can’t with the idea that Rolf can make mind-control chips and store a person’s essence on one, but he can’t make a copy of it. Or that he wouldn’t think to do it. It’s beyond careless, so he almost asked for this.
