‘General Hospital’ spoilers suggest that many fans have been very vocal about the Who Shot Drew story, which seems to be dragging on forever.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Buildup Was Compelling
Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was shot on September 2, 2025. It’s now almost January, and we still don’t know who committed the crime.
We have to admit that the soap did a masterful job in building up to this mystery; there seems to be no resolution in sight.
It was gripping at first when more than half the town had good reason to want Drew dead and there were numerous suspects. Drew has made so many enemies that he makes J.R. Ewing look honorable and beloved.
The viewers were on the edge of their seat to find out who shot Drew. We were all onboard the Who Shot Drew train, eager for answers.
We’ve established that most of the residents in Port Charles despise Drew. Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) learned that Drew had hooked up with her mother on the day they were supposed to get married.
Drew was blackmailing Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). He also wouldn’t allow Scout Quartermaine (Cosette Abinante) to see much of her family.
Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) openly threatened him in a restaurant. Drew not only ruined Michael Corinthos’s (Rory Gibson) marriage to Willow but also embroiled them in a bitter custody battle over their kids.
Mama bear Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), who would literally kill for her kids threatened Drew’s life in front of a witness. It was great fun to watch the epic buildup to this story. Then we detoured into a big fat mess.
Truthfully, the most compelling potential culprit in the story is Michael. If it turns out that he’s guilty, it adds several layers to this ongoing umbrella story.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: If Michael Is Guilty, It Would Explain A Lot
If Michael had Drew shot or shot him himself, and then framed Willow, he would be killing two birds with one stone. Drew and Willow’s torrid affair damaged Michael from the inside out.
Unfortunately, if he did frame Willow, it would be too obvious. The gun discovered in Willow’s room at Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) house belonged to Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle).
Michael lives at the Quartermaine mansion, and he could have easily planted the gun in her room when he suddenly showed up at Liz’s place to tell Willow he would let her see her kids.
Something about it rings false, considering that Michael had arranged for a meeting with Willow, her kids, and a therapist who was present when Willow was arrested for attempted murder.
If Willow turns out to be the shooter, not a red herring, then GH took the obvious, lazy way out. Willow was once adored, but now she’s hated.
Of course, fans want her to be guilty. Plus, if the writers make Willow the culprit, they may as well have ended the story months ago.

That aside, we’ve been going around in circles with this for months. An example of a who-dunnit done right is the Who Shot EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) story on Days of Our Lives.
The buildup was similar to the beginning of the Who Shot Drew arc. Most people in Salem wanted EJ dead for one reason or another. The meat of the story itself was well-written and exquisitely on point.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: DOOL Did Their Shooting Mystery Justice
DOOL also made the payoff huge and well worth it, as the show chose the most shocking character they could have possibly picked as the shooter: EJ’s ten-year-old niece, Rachel Black (Alice Halsey). Still, she had motive and the reveal made perfect sense.
Plus, the writers had the perfect red herring: EJ’s son, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), who had learned shortly before EJ was shot that EJ raped his mother and that was how Johnny was conceived.
With GH, the story has become too drawn out and somewhat messy. How could anyone involved with Selina Wu (Lydia Look) have shot and missed their target? Unless it was Brad Cooper (Parry Shen), we have no idea.
If the actual shooting had nothing to do with Ms. Wu, that makes sense, but it still doesn’t solve anything. The mystery has become bloated and uninteresting.
We just want them to come out with it already and reveal who Drew’s shooter is. Shockingly, Soap Opera Digest claimed the Who Shot Drew mystery was the best story of the year on GH.
We couldn’t disagree more. Too many loose ends. Drew was almost killed, and when he woke up, he was the same despicable monster he always was.
There was no mention of his wanting to turn over a new leaf or become a better man. What started as an exciting mystery has become dull and endless.
We don’t see the reveal paying off much the way DOOL’s shooting mystery did. The big reveal will probably be Willow as Drew’s shooter.
In essence, the ‘who shot Drew’ story has become the ‘who cares who shot Drew’ story. Hopefully, it ends soon.
