In the middle of “Monday Night Football,” Rams star Bobby Wagner gave security guards one hell of a hand by kicking a fan who had thrown a smoke bomb onto the field. A protester climbed over the railing of Levi’s Stadium and started running riot on the field just before halftime of L.A.’s defeat to the Niners in Northern California.

The man managed to elude stadium security for a while before making his way over to the Rams’ sideline while holding a smoke bomb that released pink fumes into the air. Wagner leveled the man to the ground by burying his shoulder directly into his chest at that point. The man was eventually surrounded by security personnel, and he was taken away without further incident.

While Peyton Manning and Eli Manning were in the middle of broadcasting the action, they found the whole thing to be pretty amusing. However, Wagner later admitted that he had genuine worries that the fan had evil intentions.

Wagner told the media, “We don’t know what they’re carrying in their pockets. That’s just keeping it safe. You don’t know what that fan got or what they’re doing.”

After the game, the animal rights organization Direct Action Everywhere claimed responsibility for the incident, saying the man and another protester who had been stopped before entering the field had entered the field to raise awareness for a case involving the alleged theft of pigs from a factory farm.

According to the organization, police issued citations to the protesters before releasing them. The person Wagner tackled sustained an arm burn, it was added. This is not the first time members of the organization have interfered with a football game; on the opening night of the NFL earlier this year, two people brandishing identical smoke bombs disrupted the Rams vs. Bills game.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Bobby Wagner and why did this organization think they were in the right for doing something like this? Let us know in the comments below.
