‘The Bachelor’ alum Lesley Murphy has shared the terrifying events around her 5 month old daughter’s hospitalization this weekend after the baby woke gasping for air in the early hours of the morning.

The infant, Nora is now home but, as Lesley described on her social media, she is still ‘fighting’ with an upper respiratory infection.

Lesley chronicled how Nora was brought to her pediatrician with the same symptoms she presented a few months ago when the little one was battling an ear infection. The tests performed came back as negative for the infection, but the baby soon began to present with a barking cough.

“By midnight, her breathing seemed slightly shallow but figured that was just the congestion building,” Lesley explained, but at 2am when Nora “woke up gasping for air,” Lesley and fiancé Alex Kavanagh rushed to the emergency room. “We got in a room and four doctors surrounded us trying to get a diagnosis,” the 33-year old mom-of-one said.

Nora was admitted into hospital and given “breathing treatments and steroids.” She was soon diagnosed with croup- an upper airway infection that blocks breathing and comes with a bad cough.

The new mom remained quite calm through it all, knowing her time in an emergency room was sure to come now that she is a parent.

“What a crazy 36 hours, and this super crouper (as our nurse affectionately calls her) is still fighting? It’s the worst feeling watching my baby struggle to breathe,” she wrote, saying that she wanted to share the hospital stay to let other Moms know it happens and not to panic.

She also mentioned,  “Not one bed is open on the infant/toddler floor, and every single one is full for respiratory issues?Stay safe out there, summertime sickness is upon us.”

Murphy is no stranger to hospitals herself. In 2017 the journalist opted for a double mastectomy after discovering she was BRCA-2 positive, meaning she has a high risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. “After my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew I needed to be proactive about my health,” she said at the time.

On Instagram, Lesley has shared photos of Nora and Mom having cuddles in the hospital, and one of Nora looking to be in high spirits. Here’s hoping the little one a speedy recovery.
