‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that James Patrick Stuart is defending his on-screen alter ego, Valentin Cassadine. Many viewers knew that it would only be a matter of time before the truth would come out about Valentin’s web of lies and how it would impact his future (or now lack thereof) with the love of his life, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). And while there are certainly a lot of people out there pointing their fingers at Valentin and blaming him for everything, the actor is standing up and defending him to ‘General Hospital’ fans. Realizing just how vocal ‘General Hospital’ fans have been ever since the truth came out before Nina and Valentin’s wedding last week, James Patrict Stuart has stepped up to set the record straight.

“Valentin Cassadine fascinates me,” he mused on Instagram. “It’s fair to say he’s a lying liar who hurts those closest to him. As an actor, I can’t play that.”
Sure, lying about Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattson) being Nina’s daughter would catch up to him sooner or later, but Valentin Cassadine’s actions were still pure, says the actor. He also says that the things that happened to Valentin in his past has surely caught up with him no, for better and for worse. James Patrick also hints that there’s a very little chance that Valentin will ever recover from this incident.
“I see a man who was damaged very young,” Stuart continued. “No mother, thrown away by his father and ignored by society due to physical abnormality. A complete lack of love. Now, even with it staring him in the face, he is incapable of genuine intimacy. He’s like a scarecrow doing his best to look and act like a real human. Tragic tale.”
