This story is weird and hard for me to do. As a gamer, Xplay and G4 were a staple of my childhood. Hurrying home from school to catch the latest episode with Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb, seeing their reviews of the newest games I wanted to play, I even structured a YouTube gaming show around the same concept in my own life.
However, after a live stream yesterday, Xplay has unlisted the video after receiving a ton of backlash around Frosk, their new Xplay host. She went on a tirade about the treatment of women in gaming, but it ended up being a blame game where she essentially called out her own audience, saying they were sexist and only watched Morgan Webb and Olivia Munn on G4 because of how they looked. She went as far as saying, “there will be backlash because I’m not as bangable as the previous hosts.”
While the live stream was unlisted, you can see her rant here that has 1.9k likes and 8.6k dislikes (using the Chrome addon to show dislikes again).

Xplay’s Frosk Receives Backlash For Laying Blame On Fans While Adam Sessler Continues To Alienate Half His Audience With Political Rants On Twitter
Now, you can see her rant from two perspectives, I understand. But it felt more like a personal attack to many fans, and more of a pity party for herself. To make things worse, while she’s going off about men not respecting women, you have my childhood hero saying he wishes his republican family members would die. No, I’m not exaggerating. Weird what’s considered respectful nowadays…

Just so I can get it out my system once for the day:
Republicans are stupid, racist and drink piss

The moment you bring politics into entertainment, be it television, movies, or gaming, you’ve immediately lost half of you audience, because you’re never going to be right on everything. People are more nuanced than they’re given credit for and whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, it shouldn’t matter what game you liked.
The relaunch of G4 was supposed to be an exciting and momentous occasion. However, now it’s filled with more disappointment than anything.
