Maryna has been through a lot of late. Not only has she had to worry about her family, but she has also had to take care of business when it came to the UFC. She managed to do just that when she secured an impressive victory over the weekend by defeating Mariya Agapova.

While that would usually be a cause for celebration in and of itself, in reality, she has bigger things to worry about. In an interview with TMZ, she said: “A lot of emotions because after 24 hours, I didn’t sleep.

“I tried to answer everybody for my fans, for my family, for my friends. So back in Florida, a little bit of rest, try to stay more calm but still have emotions like crazy, but happy.”

It is not clear where Maryna will go from here. She does have the option of continuing to fight in the UFC, but there is also a feeling that she may turn her attention to humanitarian work. After all, we have seen a whole host of Ukrainian sporting people who have either decided to support financially or join the military.

But based on her current mindset,  it is probably wise that she takes some time out in order to take stock of things. She added: “I know this guy died. It was so sad, but for me, it’s very important to save my family right now.

“I don’t want somebody to come touch my family. It’s still nervous, still scary to me.” The response on social media was very kind towards Maryna. People praised her for the courage that she was showing both inside the UFC, as well as on the outside.

One person wrote: “Wonderful patriot and fighter.  So happy for her and the Ukraine #RussiaUkraineWar.” Maryna has shown a lot of strength and by continuing to stay strong, she is serving as a source of inspiration for others going through a similar thing.
