Some people within the fandom are now questioning Kim Plath‘s decision to divorce hubby of 24 years Barry Plath as some sort of rejuvenation for her image. The thing is, within the fandom when it comes to Kim a lot of times the word “narcissist” is thrown around, but that’s a word that we like to stay away from considering how rare true, diagnosable narcissm actually is, or at least that’s what most experts say.
It’s become quite a buzzword in the fandom for both Kim and Barry however and really among a lot of the more popular “fundie” parents, but that is quite a reach for someone who’s lives that we just see for an hour each week.
Is Kim Plath going for a rebrand?
But it was clear that, at least last season, that out of the two elder Plaths,Kim was the one who ended up with her name being dragged through the mud the most. No one in the fandom really likes Kim or feels that sorry for her, even now that she’s allegedly “woke up” and dumped Barry and has embraced a decidedly different lifestyle, one that Ethan and Olivia might even find palatable now.
So people are wondering what was the catalyst that actually woke Kim up, without all the couched “I wasn’t happy” language. We want to know the tea, what actually was the thing that made Kim decide that this lifestyle and ultimately this marriage was not for her anymore?
Was it just because she saw the amount of hate she was getting on social media? Did she watch the show back and see how it was edited and have some qualms then? Was the rift with Ethan and Olivia truly the breaking point that we thought it might have been?
Honestly, it seemed like she could have taken or left Olivia, but the rift with Ethan after not processing what happened with Joshua might have been the thing that pushed her over the edge as far as realizing that things were not okay in her marriage.
We often forget that Kim has a lot of unprocessed trauma and while that does not excuse the majority of her actions, it does explain a good deal of them. Though, after 24 years, one has to wonder, did Kim just get tired of her image as the submissive wife and homeschool Mom and want to try for something different? Stay tuned!!!
