TLC ’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers finds that Yazan was raisewd as a very conservative Muslim but upon doing some further research, I just have to wonder, was he that triggered by Brittany showing up with a bottle of alchohol?
He said that it was prohibited to show up in public and wave alcohol around like that. Okay, prohibited but not necessarily illegal.
Yazan was acting like Brittany had committed a crime, but in actuality liquor is not illegal in Jordan. In fact, they even have bars and resteraunts that serve it.
He can cry all he wants to about Brittany not respecting his culture, but the truth of the matter is, there are pictures of them together where there are bottles of alcohol in the background.
If he was so concerned about his culture being disrespected just by the mere presence of alcohol then you would think that he would go out of his way not to be surrounded by it.
Like, maybe not going tout to clubs and bars where its served, but oh, that’s none of my business.
TLC ’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Who really wears the pants’ in Yazan’s family?
You could argue that it was because it was around his family and while that might be a valid point, the thing is Yazan’s father seemed pretty understanding.
He knew that Brittany didn’t educate herself on the tenets of conservative Islam and he seemed to feel sorry for her because he got that she was overwhelmed.
Yes, he did make some unrealistic demands of her (like getting off social media in this day and age) but he seemed more willing to understand her position of not coming from their culture and being utterly mystified by it all.
TLC ’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Yazan’s Mother on the other hand…
Her reaction was extremely problematic and extremely toxic, she expected Brittany to have already gotten over the rest of her life and just want a life with Yazan and literally nothing else.
But that is how she was raised, that is how she grew up, Brittany was not raised like that. She also didn’t seem to get that Brittany didn’t even understand the language she was speaking it was like she thought yelling at her would make her understand Jordanian!
Sorry Mrs. Yazan’s Mom, but that’s not the way it works. (Can someone get a translator app in here?)
But the thing is, I think Yazan wants so desperately to impress his parents that he would put it upon Brittany to change everything about herself, even though that’s a direct contradiction to how he treated her before.
I think if Yazan’s Mom wasn’t so insistent on how his wife should act then Yazan himself might just be 25% more chill towards Brittany and how he percieves her actions, but no, right now he’s on a mission to impress Mama simply because he’s been dating the girl a year and she wants him to be married with kids already.
Honestly, maybe we’re wrong about this whole meek, ‘oppressed’, arabic woman thing, it looks to me like Yazan’s Mother definitely wears the pants in the family in that relationship from how demanding she was of Brittany and how the Dad just jumped in to back her up.
Before that, he seemed rather sympathetic but after his wife jumped in and started lambasting Brittany, then that gave him free reign. I think that Mama Yazan is the one who has control in that household. Yike.
