Fans of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way are scratching their heads over Anthony Berryman and Manon Berryman, the couple who somehow managed to slide into the cast lineup despite already being married, having a child, and living together. The confusion boiled over on Reddit, where viewers asked the obvious: how do these two even qualify for the show? Aren’t we supposed to be watching couples navigating visas, proposals, and culture shock in the early stages of their relationships — not a family unit already knee-deep in marriage and parenting?

    Anthony & Manon’s 90 Day Fiancé Storyline Doesn’t Add Up – Here’s What Happened

Anthony Berryman, originally from California, and Manon Berryman, who hails from France, have been together for years. They’re married, they share a toddler named Benjamin, and they recently relocated to France after deciding that the American grind wasn’t working for them anymore. Anthony painted himself as burned out and financially drained, while Manon complained about intimacy vanishing from their marriage, citing the obvious strain of a toddler wedged between them at night. It’s real-life stress, sure, but it doesn’t exactly match the premise the show claims to follow.

This is where the franchise shows its true colors. The “rules” of The Other Way — one partner leaving everything behind to live abroad for love — are more like loose suggestions than requirements. The fact that Anthony and Manon are already married with a kid doesn’t matter, because their storyline is messy enough to exploit. A couple battling burnout, financial struggles, and cultural adjustments? That’s reality TV gold. For TLC, it’s never about authenticity; it’s about whether the producers can spin a storyline into ratings bait.

And let’s be honest: there’s always the chance that parts of these storylines are exaggerated or outright fabricated. Cast members on this franchise have a long history of embellishing their struggles to secure more screentime. When Anthony’s sister suddenly jumped online to “expose” Manon, the timing felt less like family truth-telling and more like a conveniently manufactured side plot. Nothing drives up engagement like a messy in-law feud, whether or not it’s real.

The bigger problem is that fans still expect consistency in a show that abandoned consistency years ago. TLC will bend or break its own format whenever it suits them. Couples like Anthony and Manon aren’t cast because they represent the original premise of cross-border love — they’re cast because their lives can be edited into chaos. Reddit might roll its eyes at the lack of logic, but TLC knows that viewers won’t stop watching if there’s just enough drama to pick apart on social media.

So here we are: Anthony Berryman and Manon Berryman are on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way despite being married, settled, and parenting a child together. Not because they fit the format, but because their marriage is messy enough to fuel a season’s worth of episodes. That’s the real formula of this franchise. The rules don’t matter — the drama does. And whether their issues are genuine, exaggerated, or stitched together in the editing room, TLC will make sure it looks like a disaster viewers can’t turn away from.

    B. Novak is and has always been a soap opera lover. He was first introduced to the world of soaps when his mom used to watch them when he was a kid in French. Yes, in French! That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
