‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that fans are furious over Y&R’s handling of legacy character Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) death.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Y&R Missed An Opportunity For A Chancellor Family Funeral And Moving Tribute
Chance was directly linked to the famous Chancellor family. The late Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) was Chance’s great-grandmother.
The infamous matriarch of Genoa City was married to Phillip Chancellor Sr. John Considine portrayed him, and later Donnelly Rhodes.
Chance’s father is Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz), and his mother is Nina Webster (Tricia Cast). Chance’s grandmother is Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).\

As far as legacy characters are concerned, Chance couldn’t have been more valuable to the Y&R canvas, despite his being grossly underused as an actor.
Fortunately for Floyd, he’s set to take on the plum role of Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives. Billy Flynn has played him since 2014, and he joined Y&R in June to play Cane Ashby.
Days will no doubt give the actor some quality material to work with. On Y&R, the character was often relegated to the back burner, receiving screen time only when a crime needed to be solved.
He also often lacked love interests. Chance’s relationship with Summer Newman (Alison Lanier) was basically a rebound for her from Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

Chance’s funeral was off-screen, which viewers felt was disrespectful to the character and a missed opportunity to show Nina’s and Jill’s shared grief.
The only hint that fans saw was a brief phone call between Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Jill. During which Billy was all “woe is me” over Jill spending time with Cane in Nice.
Y&R faltered when they could have had a very powerful and moving send-off for the character. None of the characters connected to Chance were able to be seen mourning the loss of Chance.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: In The End, Chance Was Treated As A Minor Character By The Writers
Some fans have gone as far as to say that the soap treated Chance’s death as if he were a minor character. Although he was a tragic hero, or the police detective who lost his life saving Cane.
A Chancellor family funeral would have been the chance for a significant Y&R event. Plus, his actual death was so quick, and it lacked the impact it should have had.
That said, Nina is returning to the canvas this fall for the wedding of her BFF Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) and Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian).

It’s ridiculous that the show wasted the potential of a powerful memorial service. Especially for an essential member of the cast when Nina is coming back onscreen for Cricket’s wedding.
Floyd’s final scenes at Cane’s private estate in Nice felt rushed and ingenuous. Floyd played the part well, but it was a slap in the fans’ faces that Chance was brought to France by Cane, who believed someone would try to kill him.
Chance was the one who ended up murdered. While it’s wonderful that Chance got to go out as a hero, it still makes no sense why he was even there.
There has been no mention of the alleged threat to Cane since. Despite being a prominent member of a legacy family, Chance was constantly disrespected by the writers, never getting a chance to shine or show his talent.
However, viewers could see that he was a solid actor. Hopefully, on Days, Conner Floyd will finally get the respect as an actor he deserves.
